Sweet Tweets V.4: 20 MMA Personalities to Follow on Twitter
Monica, you’re in luck sweetheart. My fictional wife Kenda Perez and I are fictionally getting a divorce so I am officially the hottest bachelor in MMA once again.
Having said that, there are millions of ring girls and MMA models that are building a shrine in my honor as we speak, but I’m willing to give you the first shot, Miss Arteaga, at becoming the new fictional Mrs. Ciccarelli.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, welcome to the fourth installment of Sweet Tweets: MMA Personalities to Follow on Twitter here on Bleacher Report.
You all should know the drill by now, every Friday I will highlight some of the coolest people in the MMA industry who have accounts on twitter.
Who will I mention this time? Let’s find out, but first we begin the ultimate follow Friday with this week’s cover girl: Monica Arteaga.
This beautiful brunette is a ring girl for the Bellator Fighting Championships and is taking the MMA world by storm. While she does have an account on twitter, I’m not entirely sure if she is active on it but you can send her a follow request at the following link.
@MonicaArteaga
Joanne Spracklen (MMA Girls)
1 of 19
Joanne Spracklen is the coolest South African chick that I know of. Granted I don’t know very many South African chicks but she’s still awesome.
Over the years, Joanne has become somewhat of a YouTube sensation and the remarkable thing is she didn’t have to beat anyone up at a barbeque in order to get noticed… well accept for that one time but that’s a tale for a different story.
Joanne is the founder of MMA Girls (www.mmagirls.net), a site devoted to unique MMA video content from a girl’s perspective.
Joanne has become somewhat famous through her UFC fight prediction videos, fighter interviews and technique videos.

Jay Hieron
2 of 19
The only thing that makes more sense than letting your middleweight champion out of his contract is releasing your best welterweight contender as well shortly thereafter.
Oh, Strikeforce I wish I were as intelligent as you…I really do.
In case you haven’t already heard, Jay Hieron recently was let go from his Strikeforce contract after asking to be released by the organization.
Hieron was frustrated at the lack of respect he was receiving from the California based promotion, and I can’t say I blame him.
After all the man is riding an impressive seven-fight win streak and was told prior to his fight with Joe Riggs that a win would earn him a title shot.
Instead, Strikeforce completely denied Hieron a welterweight title shot and didn’t even promote “The Thoroughbred” as a title contender at all.
Now that Hieron is a free agent, we may see him return to the UFC sooner rather than later.

Kevin Iole
3 of 19
An MMA and boxing columnist for Yahoo Sports, Iole is essentially king of combat sports coverage. That’s right, put a crown on the man’s head; he has earned it through covering combat sports for the past decade like a true monarch.
Iole has been a professional sportswriter for over 20 years but his recent coverage of MMA in particular has been absolutely outstanding.
Recent sweet tweet: “My #MMA column on #UFC lightweight champion @FrankieEdgar is now on Yahoo! Sports http://yhoo.it/dcx0bc”
Pat Barry

If you don’t follow Pat Barry on twitter, he will unleash hell upon you with his ninja turtle leg kicks. Trust me, you do not want to get ninja turtle leg kicked by Barry so I highly suggest you click the follow button ASAP, junior!
Recent sweet tweet: “Who would u fight first Tong Po or Chong Li from blood sport?”
P.R Cole
5 of 19
You know what they say: an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Unless the doctor is a really hot babe because chicks dig guys that eat apples, remember that the next time you go to the super market.
P.R Cole is a sports nutritionist for mixed martial artists and also the director of nutrition content for TapouT VTC.
Cole is always tweeting insightful healthy strategies on her twitter page, and while the athletes take her advice, it seems that members of the media take a different approach.
For example, when Cole tweets an update about broccoli, some writers are cracking open a six pack of Coors light and going on a taco bell binge until their stomachs explode from the inside out. Some writers though, I am not naming names (*cough* Jason Shielke *cough*).
On a serious note, Cole does an amazing job developing nutritional plans for fighters. You don’t even have to be an athlete to take Cole’s advice; just hit her up on twitter and she would be happy to help you out nutrition wise.

Jon Jones
6 of 19
Do you want to get suplexed on your head like Stephan Bonnar? No? Well then hurry up and follow Jon Jones on twitter before he turns you into his next highlight reel victim.
Seriously though, for such a devastating fighter, Jones is one of the nicest guys to be around outside of the Octagon.
At 23 years old, Jones is smashing through the UFC’s light heavyweight division and is set to have his biggest year to date in 2011.
Recent sweet tweet: “@Verafied Brandon I am sorry you are not satisfied with your performance. Maybe we can get together and spar sometime. Respect!”
Spilled Bag of Ice
7 of 19
Remember when a bag of ice spilled all over the Octagon during a fight between Melvin Guillard and Ronys Torres at UFC 109, and Joe Rogan went ballistic on the commentary?
Well now you can relive that every day as believe it or not there is actually an entire twitter page devoted to that historical moment.
Recent sweet tweet: “@mitchciccarelli http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9IfSOxqC2I”
Roy Nelson
8 of 19
Roy “Big Country” Nelson is a God among fat men. You would figure a man with such a rotund belly would be better suited competing in pie eating contests rather than fighting in an Octagon, but Nelson is as tough as they come.
Few heavyweights in the world would last more than five minutes trading punches with Junior dos Santos and yet “Big Country” went the full three rounds doing just that.
Unfortunately it was a losing effort, but the former IFL heavyweight champion is hungry—no pun intended—to work his way back into title contention.
He seems to be campaigning for a matchup with Shane Carwin. In fact it seems the two have been engaging in an intriguing war of tweets lately.
Recent sweet tweet: “I am surprised that athletes in mma do steroids ;( that explains body types”
Nicole Alves
9 of 19
Nicole Alves works for Spike TV, and she is unbelievably hot. She’s so hot that if you come within five feet of her you will burst into flames.
So it’s probably a good idea to wear some sort of fire proof vest if you’re near her, just in case.
As hot as she is though, she is also quite friendly and down to earth. If you’re in Boston this weekend for the UFC expo and UFC 118, you should definitely hit her up…but just remember to wear fire proof clothing around this hottie.
Recent sweet tweet: “How can you possibly have the energy for anything after a ufc expo. Tuck me in I'm done!”
Joshua Carey
10 of 19
No longer with Bleacher Report, Joshua Carey is now a full time writer for AmericanFighter.com.
Yes, the very same American Fighter that is owned by former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin. If you refuse to follow Josh, he will report you to Franklin, and there is a good chance that “Ace” will show up to your house and knock you out.
That’s how loyal the American Fighter brand is; they are like a family.
Carey did a phenomenal job during his stint with Bleacher Report and continues to take the MMA world by storm with his American Fighter work.
Recent sweet tweet: “Fine liquor and rap music. RT @Erik_Fontanez: What's everybody getting into tonight?”
Jessica Leigh
11 of 19
I love bunnies…I really do. Bunnies make the world go round; can that be my new official t-shirt slogan?
Jessica Leigh is a gorgeous Playboy model and—much like everyone reading this slideshow—is a super passionate MMA fan. I don’t think I have to tell you twice to check out her website http://fightclubbunny.ning.com/ and if I do then there is something wrong with you.
On her website, Leigh posts fight prediction videos and also writes insightful MMA articles as well.
Did I mention that I love bunnies?
Recent sweet tweet: “@ufc tall and iced? lol how bout short, big boobs, playboy model, and huge UFC fan hhaha!! See ya tomorrow!!”
Priscilla Marie Delgado
12 of 19
Priscilla Marie is an up and coming MMA photographer working for Vegas Fight Scene and also a writer for Queen of the Cage (www.queenofthecage.com).
A Las Vegas resident, Priscilla is as passionate as any when it comes to mixed martial arts. With her heart and desire to accomplish big things, expect to hear more about her in the future.
Recent sweet tweet: “Toney had a plumbers butt up there, not sexy.”
Derek Bolender
13 of 19
Derek Bolender threatened to hit me in the face with a steel chair WWE-style if I didn’t include him on this list so my back was against the wall.
Little did he know, I was already planning on mentioning him anyway so the violent threats were absolutely unnecessary, but as Gus Johnson would say “sometimes this sort of thing happens in MMA there is a lot of testosterone in the cage."
Bolender is one of the best columnists we have here on Bleacher Report. He has also contributed to various other sites such as SI.com, CBS Sports, Fox Sports, MMA Mania, and also Fight Magazine.
Recent sweet tweet: “I need to check my e-mail spam folder more often. There is legit stuff getting KO'd by my inbox. Also, a lot of humor i'm missing out on.”
Erin Jade
14 of 19
Erin Jade is a model by day and ninja by night. She is also one of the premier ring girls for the Canadian based W-1 fight promotion in Montreal.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Miss Jade on a radio show that no longer exists with my good friend Nate Lawson a few months back.
We started the interview off talking about the MMA modeling industry and somehow ended up discussing nude yoga and banana shaped beds… good times, good times (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/natelawson/2010/06/02/punchers-chance-radio-612010).
Overall, my co-host and I both came to the conclusion that Erin Jade is a very cool girl and that my style of interviewing is highly inappropriate.
Recent sweet tweet: “happiest and luckiest girl in the world.”
Mercedes Terrell
15 of 19
If Monica Arteaga wasn’t enough to convert you into a Bellator fan then surely Mercedes Terrell will.
The duo of Terrell and Arteaga is perhaps the hottest ring girl team in all of MMA. Maybe I will just fictionally marry both of them.
Recent sweet tweet: “Endurocross!! Indy at the pepsi coliseum. http://twitpic.com/2isjzi”
Phil Baldacci
16 of 19
A former Oregon State wrestler, Baldacci is an up and coming MMA fighter on the rise. Baldacci trained under Randy Couture at Oregon State and is now looking to establish himself as one of the toughest prospects in mixed martial arts.
Recent sweet tweet: “just saw a story of a teenager in Alabama making jewelry out of "tar balls" from the Gulf. Selling like crazy. Going to pay her college way”
Joey Beltran
17 of 19
Why wouldn’t you want follow a guy called “The Mexicutioner”?
With two straight victories in the Octagon, Beltran is on the fast track to becoming a contender in the UFC’s heavyweight division. Follow him on twitter as he prepares to make it 3-0 against “Meathead” Matt Mitrione at UFC 119.
Recent sweet tweet: “Im soooo hungry and @helen_tovar are at emmas kindergarten orientation...im gonna hit up a kid to share his lunchable.”
Zoila Frausto
18 of 19
Appropriately nicknamed “The Warrior Princess," Zoila Frausto is a beautiful wrecking machine. She is currently a semi-finalist in Bellator’s 115-lbs female tournament and coming off two impressive victories over Jessica Pene and Rosi Sexton.
The Sexton win was particularly devastating and really displayed the knockout power that Frausto possesses.
So note to all of you horndogs out there, if you try hitting on Frausto at a nightclub she might just kick your head off your shoulders.
Recent sweet tweet: “Very unprofessional!!!! Bullsh**, total bullsh**! Noons doesn't deserve a title shot with all that unprofessional bullsh**!”
