Fantasy Football Rankings 2010: The NFL Top WR Duos

Andrew RobesonAug 27, 2010

Fantasy football nuts gets ready, the NFL season is just around the corner.

So what does that mean?

It means if you haven't joined a league or done a draft yet, then get on it.

It's rare that two wide receivers from the same team put up monster fantasy stats, simply because its usually just one making the majority of the touchdown catches.

But it has been known to happen.

Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison anyone?

So what two wide receivers on the same team are most likely to carry you to a Fantasy Football championship?

Let's take a look.

8. Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston

Larry Fitzgerald needs no explanation.

The guy consistently goes for 1,000 yards and 10 TD's. He's an early round draft pick in any fantasy format.

Breaston might not be so obvious.

With Anquan Boldin gone, Breaston has become the number two receiver on the team, and he was putting up decent numbers as the third option.

Even without Kurt Warner throwing these guys the balls, both could put 1,000 yard seasons, with Breaston increasing on his three touchdown year as the third receiver in 2009.

By the way, if Warner were quarterback, these guys would be competing for the top wide receiver duo and not at No. 8.

These are the only two guys to make this list WITHOUT an elite quarterback at the helms.

7. Dez Bryant and Miles Austin

OK, so this one is contingent on Bryant being healthy.

So far in the preseason he has been unable to showcase his skills, but that is alright because everyone knows how talented he is.

Bryant is out to prove himself after all the doubt thrown his way following the Cowboys draft.

Last season, Austin shocked the league by having over 1,300 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.

With Bryant to compliment him, he could find the end zone even more this year.

6. Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes

Man this pains me, but the Jets have a pretty good wide receiver duo in Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes.

Many were shocked when the Pittsburgh Steelers dealt Holmes to the Jets for just a fifth round pick. The Steelers were trying to get rid of a troubled receiver, but the Jets obviously just saw the talent.

So what did it accomplish for the Jets?

Well, no one will know until Week 5 due to Holmes's suspension for violating the league substance abuse program.

But after that, things could get scary.

Edwards is a big physical receiver at 6'3" and 215 pounds. However, last year his 680 yards and four touchdowns were unimpressive.

Having Holmes could change all of that for Edwards, and allow him to have another season like 2007, when he had almost 1,300 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

Holmes counters Edwards physicality by being a small speedster at 5'11" and 190 pounds.

Holmes is a guy who has found the end zone at least five times each of the past three years, and last year went for almost 1,300 receiving yards.

Seeing these two on the field together could result in big numbers for fantasy owners.

5. Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens

Two of the most talented wide receivers are playing together.

How long before these two butt heads?

Terrell Owens says he can accept that Chad Ochocinco is the go to guy on this team, and if that is true, then this team can romp through the air.

Especially with stud quarterback Carson Palmer tossing them the ball.

If these two can stay out of each others way, expect big touchdown numbers from both.

4. Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon

The key to this list is having an elite quarterback.

And Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon have exactly that in Peyton Manning.

Both are guaranteed big numbers in 2010, with Wayne more than likely outdoing Garcon.

In 2009 Wayne for 1200+ yards and 10 touchdowns, while Garcon fell just short of 800 receiving yards and had four touchdowns.

Look for Garcon to get closer to 1000 yards this season as he gets more experience in the league.

3. Marques Colston and Robert Meachem

Incredibly, these two guys both found the end zone nine times a piece, while on the same team.

That is quite the feat.

The key to their success in 2010 will just be remaining healthy.

With Drew Brees at quarterback they just need to repeat what they did in 2009.

Even third receiver Devery Henderson is an option as a late round wide receiver pick as he too had over 800 receiving yards in 2009.

2. Donald Driver and Greg Jennings

These guys are a rare combo of two 1000+ yard receivers playing on the same team.

The key to that? Aaron Rodgers.

At the very least, these guys should be able to duplicate last years numbers which would work out very well for those who own them in fantasy.

They both should get five plus touchdowns and have another 1000+ yard receiving year.

1. Randy Moss and Wes Welker

There shouldn't have been any doubt with this one.

These guys play on the same team and are both able to put 1000+ yard seasons.

Having Tom Brady at quarterback doesn't hurt.

So long as they all stay healthy, Moss and Welker should be set for another 1000+ yard season to add to their resumes.

Oh and Moss will find the end zone plenty.

P.S. Why does the AFC East have so many good receivers?
