2010 NFL Preseason: How Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Others Are Doing
Every year, a whole bunch of quarterbacks get drafted. Some start right away, others get relegated to the bench.
But the one common denominator they all have at this point is they're all getting snaps during games.
Granted the snaps aren't all quality ones with the first team, but the fans get to see them for the first time on an NFL field.
This year featured big names like Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, and Jimmy Clausen.
But there's also names like Dan Lefevour and John Skelton, who flew under the radar yet still generated a lot of fan interest.
Let's check in with everybody as we head full steam into Week 3 of the preseason.
Tim Tebow
1 of 6
The Broncos just signed Kyle Orton to an extension, but there's no doubt Tim Tebow is being set up to be the quarterback of the future for the Broncos as long as Josh McDaniels is the head coach.
Tebow looked pretty good in the preseason opener Aug. 15 versus Cincinnati, but suffered a rib injury on the final play of the game.
Tebow went 8-for-13 for 105 yards and an 87 passer rating with backups that day, but he hasn't played a down since.
He still looked raw, but that won't stop his fans from proclaiming him the real thing.
McDaniels has indicated Tebow may not play Sunday night versus the Steelers, so his time to get work on the field in is rapidly coming to a close.
Sam Bradford
2 of 6
The No. 1 overall pick had a great night versus the New England Patriots in the first Week 3 preseason game.
Sam Bradford threw for two touchdowns in the first half and looked poised on the field in his first game as a starter for the St. Louis Rams. Overall, Bradford was 15-22 for 189 yards and gave Rams fans a lot of hope that they may have picked the right guy to lead the team for the next decade.
Jimmy Clausen
3 of 6
Jimmy Clausen hasn't looked spectacular in the first two preseason games, but he played the entire second half versus the Jets last week and seems to have locked up the No. 2 quarterback slot.
Overall he's 17-for-37 for 152 yards and two interceptions.
With Matt Moore the starter, Clausen still has time to learn and grow, but the Panthers need Moore to stay healthy as Clausen doesn't look like he's ready to be a starter in the NFL just yet.
Colt McCoy
4 of 6
Despite a rumor Colt McCoy was going to be cut, a league source has confirmed McCoy will make the Cleveland Browns' final 53-man roster.
McCoy has been "battling" for the third quarterback slot with journeyman Brett Ratliff.
McCoy has looked shaky in limited snaps in the first two preseason games, but since his job this year is to hold a clipboard, there's really not much to get excited about.
So far, he's 5-for-12 for 25 yards and two interceptions, but one INT was a garbage throw.
McCoy definitely isn't ready to start, but he's probably had the least amount of reps of the "Big Names" on the list so far.
Dan LeFevour
5 of 6
The sixth-round pick has performed pretty much how you'd expect a sixth-round to pick to perform as one of the many quarterbacks the Chicago Bears are auditioning for their backup job.
Dan LeFevour most likely will be named either the third quarterback, or be relegated to the practice squad as head coach Lovie Smith signed Todd Collins to compete for the No. 2 spot after Caleb Hanie got injured.
John Skelton
6 of 6
The quarterback situation in Arizona rapidly is deteriorating.
Matt Leinart was benched this week, making Derek Anderson the starter. Anderson hasn't had a good year since his Pro Bowl season for Cleveland in 2007.
Skelton went 5-for-6 with one touchdown in the first preseason game, but didn't play last week. With head coach Ken Whisenhunt looking for answers at quarterback, expect to see Skelton get more snaps this weekend.
