Fantasy Football: Hate It or Love It

Pardon My Bias Bleacher ReportAug 26, 2010

With the fantasy football season right around the corner, a lot of leagues are beginning their drafts. Every year there are guys that are over hyped and some that are under appreciated. Here is a list of guys that I hate and I love. These are based on many fantasy rankings and big boards. I also assumed a 10 man league.

Hate It

  • Steven Jackson – The guy has talent, but he’s stuck on the wrong team. In fantasy, a player doesn’t necessarily have to win to be a good player, but when you only win one game in the season, it begins to mess with your psyche. Jackson has also battled with many injuries, and I would not use a top 10 pick on the guy.stevenjackson1 300x270 Fantasy Football: Hate It or Love It
  • Percy Harvin – The migraines are scaring me. Reports have come out that he’s experienced them many times and they are completely unpredictable. I don’t want to lose one of my receivers especially when he is suffering from an off the field issue that really has no treatment. I would avoid picking him at all costs.
  • Brandon Marshall – Anyone expecting last year’s numbers out of Marshall in Miami can forget it. There is a big difference in Kyle  Orton and Chad Henne. Marshall will be a good player, but I would take him somewhere late 3rd round, not in the 2nd where many experts have him projected.
  • Ryan Mathews – This kid is getting ridiculous hype. Lets please remember he is still a rookie and the transition into the league is a difficult one. He has a big spot to fill with LT gone, and to draft him in the first round where many experts have him at is just ludicrous. I expect him to play well for the Bolts, but I don’t see him having an Adrian Peterson rookie season.
  • Tony Gonzalez – Gonzo is not the same guy he was before. Coming to Atlanta has taken a big drop in his stats. There are plenty of other Tight Ends on the market that will give you much better production.gonzo 215x300 Fantasy Football: Hate It or Love It

Love It

  • Ryan Grant – Grant is a name that falls under the radar. He had a lot of hype coming into 2008 and was a bust to many, but had a great bounce back year bumping up his TD total by 7 last season. He’s a great second back you could pick up late 2nd round or early 3rd round.
  • Aaron Rodgers – I’m drinking the Packer juice…or eating their cheese this year. I think Rogers will finish a top 3 QB this year. I think the Packers have an unstoppable offense. I like Rodgers for 4500 yards, and 33 TDs this year. Rodgers is a 2nd round pick, and if your league has passing TDs worth 6 points, he’s a high 2nd round pick in a 10-man league.aaron rogers 07 300x225 Fantasy Football: Hate It or Love It
  • Anotonio Gates – You may be thinking to yourself, no kidding when you see Gates on this list. Without Vincent Jackson in the picture, Gates becomes Rivers’ number one option. Expect 90+ receptions, and 13+ TDs from the big man, which could be pretty from a guy who averaged about 15 yards/reception last year. I like him as much as some elite WRs and would be willing to take him mid 3rd round.antonio gates 254x300 Fantasy Football: Hate It or Love It
  • Matt Schaub – If you miss out on Brees, Favre, Rivers, Manning, and Rogers, Matt Schaub can end up being a gem for you late 3rd round or early 4th round. This guy can put up big numbers like anyone and has the best receiver in the league, Andre Johnson, to throw to. He put up more yards than any other QB last year, and I expect another monster season.
  • Shonn Greene – Out with Thomas Jones, in with LT, I still like Shonn Greene. This guy is a great pick in the 2nd round and will put up excellent numbers for you. He had a good average per carry last season, and I look for him to explode this season with LT on the sidelines giving tips.

This is just an opinion…so please Pardon My Bias.
