The outspoken and brash heavyweight boxer is as talented in the ring for winning fights, as he is outside of the ring for promoting them.
We'll look at the best quotes that Toney has provided for MMA and boxing audiences to debate upon which combat sport is the more superior. While it's likely Toney will not end up winning the fight at UFC 118, if it's any consolation, surely he'll have something to say in the post-fight interview.

MMAFighting.com, July 28, 2010.
MMA website MMAFighting.com recently did a live chat with the IBA Heavyweight champion and Toney didn't certainly hold anything back on his opponent, everything taking a jab at Couture's ancestors.
One fan stated that Couture's wrestling background would be the deciding factor in the fight and from there, Toney would be finished. Toney didn't seem to care how superior Couture's wrestling pedigree is, he replied saying if Randy tried getting within his range or touched him, he'd go down.
Toney certainly seems to disregard everything in MMA but boxing. Unfortunately boxing is only a fraction of the sport.
No. 9 - On To The Next One
2 of 10
"After I knock out Couture, if he wants he can get in there too. Dana White say he want to make an example out of me, I make an example out of everybody else."
MMAWeeklyRadio, July 7, 2010.
In an interview last month, Toney responded to UFC President Dana White's comments after he said they would make an example out of him at UFC 118.
Toney put White and UFC management on notice when he said he wouldn't hestitate to make an example out of the UFC boss if he got in his way.
This isn't the first time White has had a confrontation with one of his employees, Tito Ortiz was very outspoken about his boss and the two have crossed paths on more than one occasion. Ultimately, Ortiz and White reconciled.
Will we see history repeat itself following UFC 118?
No. 8 - Whatchya Gonna Do Randy?
3 of 10
" How is Randy gonna' defend me from knocking his head off his shoulders, with those four ounce gloves on."
MMA Connected Interview with Joe Ferraro, July 2010.
During an interview with Canadian sports talk show MMA Connected, Toney might of possibly gained some support in his bout ahead at UFC 118, after claiming he is a world class striker in boxing.
With that mind, when Toney transitioned into MMA, he swapped the ten ounce boxing gloves for four ounce gloves.
He stated there is a big difference between ten ounce and four ounce gloves and that they generate more power and he can hit harder because UFC gloves are smaller.
Don't be surprised to see Couture on the canvas, courtesy of Toney.
No. 7 - James Toney Wants Brock Lesnar
4 of 10
" After I knock out Randy Couture, I'm coming for Brock's b---h ass next."
MMAWeeklyRadio, July 7, 2010.
There is no doubt James Toney is one of the best boxers of his generation, and if he is the best then why not give him the best fighters?
Toney has made no secrets about what his intentions are, he plans to defeat Randy Couture at UFC 118 and defend his IBA Heavyweight title before the end of this year, and compete in UFC in 2011 to become UFC Heavyweight champion.
Declaring Brock Lesnar as his next opponent, shows either how uneducated he is about MMA, or he is very confident in his abilities to defeat his opponent.
However a match up featuring Toney and Lesnar is a dream match rather than a realistic one.
No. 6 - Brock Boucher
5 of 10
" Y''all remember The Waterboy? Remember when Adam Sandler used to run and hit people, that's all Brock Lesnar does. The same stuff."
Video Interview courtesy of BleacherReport.com, August 18, 2010.
James Toney knows how to promote a fight and he also knows how to make enemies, too. He hasn't held back on wanting Brock Lesnar as his next opponent, in fact Lesnar was the first person he wanted to fight upon signing with UFC.
This quote came after being asked his pick for Lesnar vs.Velasquez at UFC 121. Toney said he is rooting for the former WWE superstar, but that's only because he intends to square off against him.
From there, he poked fun at the 265 lb behemoth and compared his talents and success to the character Bobby Boucher from the 1997 comedy "The Waterboy."
These remarks might be funny and amusing to Toney, but he shouldnt look past his opponent Couture, a man Lesnar reclaimed UFC Heavyweight Championship from at UFC 105.
No. 5 - He Is No Hall-Of-Famer, Randy Couture Is A Bum
6 of 10
"In MMA if you have 28 fights, you're in the hall of fame. That's bullsh*t. In boxing, Randy Couture would be a bum."
MMAfanhouse.com, August 18, 2010.
It seems like any chance he gets, James Toney will voice his opinion, whether it's dissing Randy Couture or MMA.
Regarding this response if Couture was a professional boxer, his record wouldn't stand a chance of entering the hall-of fame. But he isn't a boxer, Couture is in MMA where he implements boxing into his game.
Realistically Toney is promoting for their upcoming bout, but at the same time he's also trying to distinguish how superior boxing is to MMA. Looking at Toney's professional record, it's not hard to see why he is a future hall-of famer in boxing.
But the sport he'll be competing in this weekend isn't boxing, it's MMA.
No. 4 - Dana White Will Eat His Words And Randy Couture's Glove, Too
7 of 10
"After I knock this boy (Randy Couture) out, I'm going to make Dana White eat his glove."
Bloodyelbow.com, August 24, 2010.
The war of words between James Toney and UFC President Dana White doesn't show signs of slowing down.
In a recent video interview, Toney made it clear to the media in attendance, that once he's finished with Couture, he'll knock out the UFC boss.
Although this is quote is a little redundant, the fact that Toney makes this comment so casually and confidently, shows he means business at UFC 118.
The fact that Toney has threatened the UFC boss sounds farfetched and ridiculous, but it's getting to the point where Toney will do or say anything to get recognition and support from MMA fans and critics.
No. 3 - Bring A Pillow to UFC 118
8 of 10
" Show up Randy, August 28th, bring a pillow and pick a corner of the cage you want to lay down in."
MMA:30, July 2010.
As if the words would stop pouring from James Toney's mouth, he comes out and says something to spark up interest once again.
In an interview with MMA:30 Toney was asked, after originally scheduling the bout at catchweight and light-Heavyweight, why the bout was moved to heavyweight and Toney replied by saying that it didn't matter what weight class it is and that Couture was going to be put to sleep.
Toney even went as far as to suggest bring a pillow so his opponent would be comfortable while he's knocked out.
While James Toney never runs out of things to say, he certainly hasn't ran out of any confidence and he is very confident he'll topple Randy Couture at UFC 118.
No. 2 - Pay That $59.95!
9 of 10
"Tune in on August 28th, pay your $59.95 or whatever you gotta pay for it, tune in and watch and see what I know."
AOL Fanhouse, July 4th, 2010.
In a video interview conducted by MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, James Toney answered various questions surrounding his bout at UFC 118.
Topics ranged from his training schedule, opponents, strategy, and strangely a Randy Couture doll dressed in drag. When he was asked about his knowledge on MMA, Toney said for Helwani and MMA fans to watch UFC 118 and find out for themselves, while at the same time giving out the incorrect price of the pay-per-view event.
In actuality, the regular price for a UFC event ranges around $50. Wether he made an honest mistake or was making such comments for sheer entertainment, this interview was evident that James Toney isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
No.1 - Randy Couture Is Going To Sleep At UFC 118
10 of 10
"As soon as I touch him, he's goin' to sleep."
UFC 117, August 7th, 2010.
In a last ditch effort to promote the fight, Toney was interviewed during the UFC 117 event by UFC commentator Joe Rogan. In typical fashion Toney was very outspoken during the segment and perhaps gave the boldest prediction on his upcoming bout with Randy Couture.
When asked about the outcome, Toney casually stated that Couture was going to sleep.
This is nothing new coming from the brash IBA Heavyweight Champion, but based on his career he has every right to make that claim.
Anything can happen in MMA and at UFC 118 we could very well see an outsider walk in and regin supreme in another sport.
