NFL Betting –Top Five Second Round Draft Picks
Those betting on NFL football will be keeping a close eye on the incoming rookies, and while there was a lot of talent in the first round, the second round could be even deeper. Here are the best five players from the second round of the draft, and if they don’t make an impact this year, it won’t be long before they do.
Dexter McCluster, Kansas City (Pick No.36)
McCluster did everything but sell popcorn at Ole Miss, and he’ll be counte on to be a versatile threat for the Chiefs, who don’t have that much at the skill positions. McCluster is the next best thing to C.J. Spiller, who Buffalo took with the ninth pick, and he’s been impressive in the preseason. Don’t be surprised if the Chiefs run the Wildcat for him, either.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Taylor Mays, San Francisco (Pick No.49)
Mays quickly moved up the depth chart before the preseason, and now he’s on the second team, but we’re figuring coach Mike Singletary will figure out how to get him on the field more. NCAA football betting players will remember Mays from USC, where he was arguably the hardest hitter in the college game, but his coverage is still lacking a bit. We’re also backing Singletary to instill some discipline in Mays as well.
Carlos Dunlap, Cincinnati (Pick No.54)
Dunlap fell out of the first round because of perceived character issues: he missed the SEC title game against Alabama because of a drunk-driving charge on the eve of the game. Many feel that’s why the Gators got destroyed. But Dunlap was back in the Sugar Bowl, racking up two sacks, and that will be his role in Cincinnati, where the Bengals’ talented defense was missing only a pass rusher.
Brandon Spikes, New England
Spikes was a teammate of Dunlap’s in Florida, and he was the heart and soul of that unit for the last three years. The Patriots have shown they’re not afraid to bleed young players as they threw Jerod Mayo into the fire, and he’s worked out just fine. Spikes is a very intelligent player, and he brings something else to the table. He returned four picks for scores from his linebacker position at Florida.
Pat Angerer, Indianapolis
Angerer didn’t get the hype of anyone else on this list coming out of Iowa, but he was at the heart of a rock-solid defense that put the Hawkeyes in the Orange Bowl. Angerer has also been been one of the best rookies of the preseason as the Colts rest starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett. But Angerer is making a big play for more time somewhere else. One thing is for sure. Having this depth at linebacker is a great thing for the Colts’ odds if you’re betting online.
