PGA TOUR PLAYOFFS: Tiger Auctioning Off Grand Slam Irons to Pay Elin?

Andy ReistetterAug 25, 2010

Remember this guy named Tiger Woods?

The guy who might go "one and out" in the PGA TOUR PLAYOFFS?

Remember when he dominated the world of golf?

The guy who may not be the United States Ryder Cup team even though he is the world's No.1 golfer?

Remember when he won the Grand Slam of Golf and had possession of all four major championship trophies?

Now you can own that very set of golf clubs he used to win those four majors for only $13,106.01.

What a difference less than 9 months makes in the world of golf.

In early November 2009 Tiger finished tied for 6th at the WGC- HSBC in Shanghai, China.

Woods then went down under, scored well and won the Australian Masters for his 7th win in 2009.

He has not won since that Sunday- November 15, 2009.

Woods has not won a major since the Monday, June 15th, 2008 playoff victory over Rocco Mediate in the United States Open at Torrey Pines.

Most would say he has lost a lot in the last 9 months including his marriage to the once again Elin Nordegren.

Now the golf clubs he used to win the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, the 2000 British Open at St. Andrews, the 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla and the 2001 Masters are up for auction by Green Jacket Auctions out of Tampa, Florida.

Does Woods really need to auction off his most treasured assets to pay off the divorce settlement to Elin?

The auction began on Monday the day Elin and Tiger's divorce was final.

Ironically or well planned to maximize the selling price?

It continues for another 17 days and concludes at 8:00 p.m. E.T. on September 11th.

They likely will go for much more than $13,106.01 since the reserve price is not yet met.

Even more interesting is Tiger's buddy Mark O'Meara and no longer his buddy Jesper Parnevik are in a feature video linked to Lot 1 of the 2010 summer sale.

Are these really Tiger's golf clubs he used to win four consecutive majors- the Tiger Slam?

James Achenbach's GolfWeek article describing in detail each club Tiger used to beat Mark Brooks in the mesmerizing playoff at Valhalla indicates they are the real McCoy.

Who was the real McCoy anyways?

Was it Kid, Wiliam S. or Joseph?

Or was it the McCoy family that feuded with the Hatfields on the West Virginia-Kentucky border?

Maybe it was the real MacKays from Scotland?

Even so why were they real or genuine?

How do we know these are the real and genuine clubs Tiger used to make yet his boldest statement that he is indeed "the greatest golfer of all time?"

Anyone could hand stamp each club with a "T" or "TIGER" on the Vokey wedges.

So a Vokey 58 degree wedge is bent to 56 degrees and hand stamped 56 degrees?

Anyone could have guessed Tiger's secret combination of a weak loft of 2 degrees and an upright lie of 1 degree.

I thought Tiger was a billionaire- why would he have to auction off his golf clubs to pay off a mere reported $100 million settlement?

Wait it is not Tiger Woods auctioning off the clubs?

How could that be?

Steve who?

No not Steve Williams… Steve Mata?

It doesn't "mata" who it only matters that you can get them now for your very own collection.

Steve Mata is a "long time" Titleist Vice President who in the shortest of time- i.e. the current present tense is "no longer at this time" with Titleist.

Evidently Mata was given the clubs when he delivered a replacement set of clubs to Tiger in 2001.

Okay I want to deliver the pizzas to Tiger's house.

Hey Mata has sworn out an affidavit and taken a polygraph (lie detector) test to prove these clubs really "mata."

Sorry for the accent as I am in New York City for the Barclays in New Jersey at the present moment.

Okay here's my cut on this whole sordid affair…

Yet another "friend" to Tiger Woods turns out not to be a true friend.

So what can you do to Tiger Woods other than try to embarrass him or try to get more of his money?

I am betting the reserve price is $10 million so technically it is only legalized though raunchy "tell me you love me" blackmail.

The kicker is Elin will go $15 million and give Tiger back his clubs as a thank you for being so nice and civilized during the divorce though not the marriage.
