Do Rangers Require a Rover?

Despite being top of the league after enjoying a perfect start to the season with a goal difference  of plus nine, QPR manager Neil Warnock is adamant that he requires two more strikers if his side is to move from being a top ten club to an outfit capable of winning this year's Championship title.

With Blackburn currently keen to offload Jason Roberts, and QPR being one of the richest Championship sides, a deal to secure a permanent transfer of their top target should be easy enough to push through. However, with Rangers refusing to meet the current asking price for the former Wigan striker, Warnock now has to look at working out a loan agreement for the forward, although the Betfair Football rumour mill has linked him with other players as well.

Should QPR's mega-rich owners decide that they will not stump up the cash required to encourage Blackburn to release the player, Blackburn have already said that they are prepared to give Roberts one last chance to earn himself a place in their 25-man squad for the coming season.

With one top Premier League striker, Manchester City's Craig Bellamy, having already dropped down a division in order to secure first-team football, it is increasingly likely that the new 25-man squad rule will see an influx of Premier League players to the Championship, something that Queens Park Rangers may well be able to exploit in order to help their promotion push.

With Rangers fans desperate for the success that their 2007 takeover promised, the arrival of Jason Roberts would go a long way towards helping to guide the side towards glory.

QPR face Leicester soon and the Leicester betting suggests the London club should have no problem picking up three points.

If they keep doing that, they could soon be back in the top-flight.
