Aquilani Returns to Italy

Sam RobertsAug 25, 2010

Juventus have snapped up Liverpool misfit Alberto Aquilani on a season long loan deal. The midfielder has been plagued by injury since Rafael Benitez signed the midfielder for £18million last year. New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is hoping Aquilani will find his fitness and his form by playing regular first team football back in Italy. With Javier Mascherano looking increasing likely as though he will stay on Merseyside, Hodgson has deemed Aquilani surplus to requirements for this season at least.

Online Betting pundits note how Aquilani was initially signed last summer as a replacement for Xabi Alonso but was unable to play till October due to an ankle injury and n. When he returned to fitness, the midfielder struggled to get into the team, starting over fulfilled his promise ,starting only nine games in the league. The midfielder is clearly a talented player but he just may be unsuited to the Premier League. If remains to be seen if the 26 year old will return to England after his loan spell, Hodgson has stated that this is just a season long deal and he will welcome the player back next season although if he has a blinding season in Italy Juve would be keen to keep him

Juve will be pleased with the deal; Aquilani has shown his quality in Serie A since he first broke into the Roma team six years ago. His reputation in Italy is that of one of his country’s most creative midfielders and he should improve their Italian Serie A odds.

Despite missing out on selection for this summer’s World Cup due to a lack of match fitness, Aquilani has been around the national squad for a few years now, earning 11 caps. If it hadn’t of been for his injury troubles he would have made nearer 30 caps by now. He’ll be looking to prove a few points this season.
