New York Jets: Is Darrelle Revis Signing an Extension or Not?
New York, New York…
Given the city's reputation for Broadway, I guess it should come as little surprise that drama finds the New York Jets even when the team doesn't seek out attention. (Okay, it's been a few years since the Jets have flown under the radar).
The most recent theatrical production is a mystery. Thanks to ProFootballTalk.com for providing some of the juicy details.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
A mystery called "Is All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis finally going to end his holdout by signing a contract extension?" The alternate title to this new release is called "Speculation, what is it good for?"
Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw opened the week (show) by predicting via Twitter that a deal for Revis would be consummated on Wednesday.
Adding to the intrigue, no other media outlet or source had any word of this rumored deal. Meanwhile, the Jets and Revis' camp had agreed to not release any details of negotiations to the media.
Cowlishaw was criticized by his peers for crafting such a fantasy.
Then, the plot turned as the Jets and center Nick Mangold agreed to a reported seven-year, $55 million dollar deal.
Could it be that Cowlishaw had pulled the old "bait and switch" and replaced Mangold's name with Revis?
Not so, insisted Cowlishaw who maintained that Revis was still likely to sign at some point this week. The audience (sports world) started to get bored and headed out for refreshments as Cowlishaw's new lines sounded a bit like backtracking and hedging on his original prediction.
Then, Fanhouse.com's Dan Graziano reported a source that said an extension was "almost there and could be announced in the coming days." Cowlishaw apparently tweeted, "Jets meeting with Revis' people tonight will decide if I was a little overconfident in my initial prediction. But they're talking."
ESPN put this one line on its ticker for dramatic effect: Report: Jets, Revis close to finalizing an extension.
The play reached its climatic moment when ESPN's Chris Mortenson and John Clayton both denied that a meeting was taking place on Tuesday night.
Although, as Clayton did a tap dance for his final number, he admitted that he wouldn't be surprised if something got done this week with the deal—that is if Revis was willing to move off of his figure of $16 million per year.
This conclusion didn't go over very well with at least one reviewer, who remarked that Clayton "seemed to be channeling his inner cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz".
Like with so many productions today, the audience was left wondering what truly had happened if anything. After all, neither the Jets nor Revis is talking.
Stay tuned for a sequel? We probably can't resist.
