Diehard sports fans sometimes make diehard mistakes when it comes to finding ways to show their team spirit. Burning couches, setting dumpsters on fire, starting fights with rival team fans…and getting embarrassing fan tattoos all make the list of terrible ways fans have expressed love for their teams.

Tattoos are one of the more permanent ways people can express their team spirit. Sometimes the tattoo looks really great and is something that fan will cherish forever. Other times, the tattoo can be an embarrassing reminder of a rash decision gone wrong.

While the really bad fan tattoos may be extremely embarrassing for their owners, they provide enjoyment for others who can look at them and laugh.

No. 20 Too Many Yankees Dedications

This tattoo is good in theory, but in application it has too much going on.

This person obviously wanted to express his or her love for the Bronx Bombers, but went a little overboard with all of the players, logos and dates all smashed together in one place on the body.

No. 19 Dallas Cowboys Helmet with Lighting Bolt

This is an embarrassing tattoo. While it doesn’t seem to really bother the owner of this tattoo, the artwork and design of this one don’t seem to really go together, and the colors seem to be starting to fade.

Aside from an awkward design, the tattoo seems to be in a slightly awkward place on the fan’s body. It looks like it is on the inside of his arm.

No. 18 Viking Arm

This tattoo is only part of the embarrassing get up. It adds to the embarrassing ensemble of dedication to the Minnesota mascot.  

Like the one before it, this tattoo is also in a very weird place. While the artwork is well done, by placing it that low on the inside of his arm, it seems the only time other people would be able to see it is when this fans is making the No. 1 sign like he is here in this picture.

While that may have been his intention, it adds to the embarrassing factor of this fan tattoo.

No. 17 Green Cubs Tattoo

Maybe it’s the lighting or a green tint in the blue ink used for this Cubs tattoo, but either way it appears to be a green and red tattoo, when the Cubs’ colors are blue and red.

This would be a very cute tattoo if the coloring was correct.

No. 16 Maple Leaf Goalie

It appears that this person is a fan of the Maple Leafs. However, this tattoo is a weird combination of the Maple Leaf logo and a weird goalie creature that looks like it belongs in one of the Resident Evil movies.

It deserves some props for originality, but it’s kind of creepy looking, making this an embarrassing tattoo.

No. 15 Bears Logo on Back of Head

This has to be one of the most awkward places to put a colorful tattoo. While the design is well done, it is in such a weird place on this person’s body, and is something that will only be seen as long as he keeps his head shaved.

If he ever decides to grow his hair out, the color might shine through, which would be awkward. This tattoo would have been way less embarrassing if he had had It done somewhere else on his body.

No. 14 Manchester United Back Tattoo

This is another tattoo that seems like a good idea in theory, but is a little too busy in application.

There are so many things going on with this tattoo that it is hard to tell where to look first. It takes up this man’s whole back, and depicts the team name, important team members and trophies the team has won.

No. 13 Green Bay Packers Fan Tattoo

This tattoo really wouldn’t be embarrassing at all…if the person hadn’t included the “Packer Fan 4 Ever” part.

The art work is well done, but using the number four instead of the three letter word is very immature looking and as the years go on, this tattoo will become more and more embarrassing because of that substitution.

No. 12 Cartoon Patriots Logo

This looks like it is supposed to be an old version of the Patriots mascot. However, it looks more like a poorly drawn coloring book character than a team mascot.

It’s not very nice to look at, and it’s hard to tell if it is just a random patriot character or an expression of this person’s love for the football team.

No. 11 Cubs Logo on Elbow

This logo would look really good…somewhere else on this guy’s body.

By placing this fan tattoo on his elbow, he has created some weird dips and curves in the presentation of the tattoo, making it hard to look at rather then something he should be proud to show off.

No. 10 Brutus Buckeye Peeing on Michigan Helmet

While this tattoo fully expresses the owners feeling about Ohio State’s superiority to University of Michigan, it is an immature tattoo, which the owner will surely one day regret after he or she has grown up a bit.

The artwork is good, but this lewd tattoo is one of the more embarrassing ways for a fan to express love for the team.

No. 9 Triple H

This, according to the sight, is a fan tattoo of Triple H.

It seems to be just a man holding a stick with a weird expression on his face, instead.

No. 8 Carolina Panther?

This tattoo looks like maybe it was supposed to be a rendition of the Carolina Panther mascot.

However, the execution of this tattoo was completely botched. It seems anyone would be embarrassed to have this tattoo on them.

Yet another fan tattoo on someone’s head. These seem to be the most embarrassing because there is no covering these up, and they seem so out of place and random.

This one especially is vibrant, that it is the first thing you see when you see this man.

It’s nice that this man once got an autograph from a famous fighter, but autographs are usually worth more when they are on the actual paper or item the athlete signed.

This is a strange dedication tattoo to Mike Tyson. It would be one thing if he had included just the face or just the autograph, but both together seems a bit much.

Especially between the other tattoos he already has on his back.

While this one isn’t dedicated to anyone sports team, it is a free walking ad dedication to Nike.

This tattoo is like free advertisement for the sports apparel company. And walking around with a huge ad on this man’s back makes this an embarrassing tattoo.

No. 4 Strange Combination

It seems with this tattoo, that someone couldn’t figure out which team he most wanted to represent so he decided to combine three teams into one strange character tattoo.

It is creative, but very strange looking.

No. 3 Misspelled Tattoo

This tattoo is epic, and wouldn’t be an embarrassment at all...if the artist had spelled the university’s name right.

This is obviously a dedication to Clemson University, but the tattoo artist spelled it Clemons. That’s an embarrassing thing to get wrong in a tribute to the team, and not something very easily fixed.

This one is not only in a spot no tattoo should ever be, but its creepy and a very odd thing to get tattooed across one's forehead.

This tattoo seems like more of a cry for attention, than an actual statement or expression of fan love for the NBA player.

This has to be the most embarrassing tattoo of all time. That’s fine if at one point, or even still, you’re a fan of Mike Tyson, but at least get an intimidating tattoo of his face if you’re going to get one at all.

This tattoo displays a very weird and creepy facial expression of Mike Tyson, complete with missing, discolored teeth.
