Santana Moss' Fantasy Football Sleeper Potential

Lee JohnsonAug 24, 2010

Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss is a fantasy football prospect who could see his stock take a jump in 2010. Known for going hot and cold in fantasy circles over the last few years, Moss could be more hot than not with the arrival of Donovan McNabb in Washington.

When Jason Campbell was the quarterback in Washington, there was often up and down play. Not to point fingers, we know the guy had it rough with different offensive coordinators every season. One thing that we do know is that there should be more consistent play at the quarterback position in 2010, putting more balls and possible fantasy points in the hands of Santana Moss.

Yes, we know that Santana Moss is 31 years old, but 31 is the new 29. Nice try, huh? Really, his potential production outweighs his age. This owner isn’t going to back off on a player because there is an extra candle on a cake, it’s going to be because he had shown a considerable decline the previous season in an apparent result from age. We are not at that point with Moss yet.

One of the most exciting details for Moss this season is that the Redskins are working him at a variety of positions on the outside and in the slot. We could see Santana Moss on the field most of the time while the other positions are filled with the receiver by committee that the Skins mights use.

Other than the whole HGH thing this offseason things have been rather quiet for Moss. There is little buzz on the fantasy front and this can be a good thing for the aware fantasy owner. His current Average Draft Position (ADP) is at the last pick of the sixth round. He has gone anywhere from the late fourth round to the late eighth round. We feel Moss would make a nice No. 3 WR or low-end No. 2.

Santana Moss is currently ranked at No. 17 in our Wide Receiver Redraft Rankings.

Fantasy Points are standard scoring, 1 point per 10 yards, 6 points per TD. PPR points factor in a point per reception.
