Carlos Ischia has just been fired by Carlos Martin De Campo, the president of Atlas FC. The reason for the decision was the team's poor performance in its last two games against Club America and Toluca.

The score was a 1-1 draw in both games. While Mr. Martin De Campo was willing to forgive the draw against Club America, the draw against Toluca was the last straw.

The termination of Ischia came after Atlas FC celebrated its 94th anniversary with a Mass at the Basilica of Zapopan in Mexico with little to celebrate.

The venerable club was in crisis with its games during the Mexican league season being almost at the bottom since the beginning.

Carlos Martin de Campo called for a special reunion with other members of the Atlas FC governing body including Rafael Lebrija and Victor Flores.

The result was the selection of the new coach, Jose Luis Mata, who is an institution in Atlas FC as a player.

It remains to be seen whether he can turn around the fortunes of Atlas FC.
