NFL Preseason 2010: 10 Questions Still Not Answered
Now that the answer to the Brett Favre saga is known, football fans can get a better idea of what the league will look like, particularly the NFC.
However, there are still many questions that remain unanswered heading into the season.
Here are 10 of them.
How Much Impact Will Ndamkong Suh Have?
1 of 10
Ndamkong Suh, rookie out of Nebraska and 2nd-overall pick, will be looking to continue his dominance on the defensive side of the ball with the Detroit Lions.
Many thought Suh was ready for the NFL with his incredible size and physical ability, but apparently Suh has had a difficult time adjusting early in camp.
He has just one tackle in the preseason, but Lions coach Jim Schwartz has stated that Suh is making progress and has been an effective piece on defense despite lack of stats.
If the Lions want to be successful, they need Suh to be effective on defense, and Suh will be.
Stats aren't everything, and Suh will display the essence of that. His presence will be felt by opposing teams.
Who Will Be the Arizona Cardinal's Starting Quarterback?
2 of 10
Losing Kurt Warner to retirement, the Arizona Cardinals find themselves with a quarterback battle between Matt Leinart and Derek Anderson.
It is widely thought that Anderson will win the starting job, as Leinart has been a disappointment so far in his time in the NFL.
Leinart still has a few weeks left to prove he is the right man for the job, but he's going to have a hard time beating Anderson out.
Anderson will win the starting job, and he should. He has had success in the NFL, while Leinart is still nothing more than pure potential.
How Much Will Tim Tebow Play?
3 of 10
The Denver Broncos camp has been active and garnered plenty of attention so far with several injuries and of course, Tim Tebow.
Many questions face the Broncos regarding the former Heisman and national champion from the University of Florida.
If he is a bust, the Broncos organization will forever look like fools for picking him so high. However, if Tebow makes a considerable impact in the league, the Broncos will look like geniuses.
The question this season is, how much playing time will Tebow see?
There are two quarterbacks ahead of him, the talented Kyle Orton as well as Brady Quinn, who you can say has also been a disappointment so far.
Chances are that because of his athleticism and competativeness, Tebow will see the field this season, and perhaps a little more than other rookie quarterbacks.
Who Will Be the Pittsburgh Steeler's Starting Quarterback?
4 of 10
Another question surrounding a team's quarterback. This time it's the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Losing Ben Roethlisburger for the first part of the season due to his suspension, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers will be in search of the right piece to fill that void until Big Ben comes back.
Tomlin can choose from Dennis Dixon or Byron Leftwich.
Currently, many feel as though Leftwich will win the starting job, although Dixon still has a fair shot.
However, in the end Leftwich will be the answer for the Steelers, but don't be surprised to see Dixon getting his share of snaps as the backup.
How Will Pete Carrol and the Seattle Seahawks Fare?
5 of 10
Since leaving the University of Southern California to head north and coach the Seattle Seahawks, Pete Carroll has been the center of attention out west.
There are many doubters who feel Carroll will not be successful at the professional level as he wasn't before, but there are also those who feel Carroll is the right man to turn the organization around.
Carroll has many obstacles to overcome and answers to answer, including losing the team's first draft pick for the first week, Russell Okung.
In the end, Carroll will have a hard time finding success in the NFL once again, and it probably won't be long before he finds himself on the sidelines on Saturdays.
How Will Brandon Marshall Impact the Miami Dolphins?
6 of 10
One of the biggest moves this offseason was wide receiver Brandon Marshall heading to his home state to line up for the Miami Dolphins.
There are numerous questions surrounding Marshall, most of which pertain to his character and how well he can gel with Chad Henne and this Dolphins offense.
Those questions were only elevated in the first preseason game, as Marshall suffered a case of the drops. However, those questions were quickly dismissed as Marshall followed the next week with an impressive performance.
Overall, the former University of Central Florida standout is going to be a huge help for the Dolphins. Not only will he make big plays, but his great blocking skills will also open up the Dolphins' already dangerous run game.
Can LaDanian Tomlinson Turn it Around in New York?
7 of 10
Another big move this season was running back LaDanian Tomlinson's move to New York in pursuit of a ring.
However, this move was rather questionable on the Jets' part. Why take on an aged veteran like Tomlinson who hasn't had a successful season in quite some time now?
Sure, if Tomlinson turns it around and finds his old game, the Jets' gamble will pay off.
But that's a huge if.
Will the New England Patriots and Tom Brady Agree to An Extension?
8 of 10
This one is quite confusing.
The New England Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady still haven't agreed to a contract extension, and many feel as though they won't agree any time this season.
Apparently, the Patriots aren't willing to give Brady as much money as he wants. Brady also wants the deal done before the season for security reasons, in case of injury and things like that.
This makes no sense, why would the Patriots not rush to sign their star quarterback to keep him as long as they can? You would think a franchise would when it comes to a player of Brady's caliber.
Brady still has plenty left in the tank and the Patriots wouldn't be the same without him.
However, this deal should get done at some point soon, whether it's before or during the season.
How Much Will Sam Bradford See the Field?
9 of 10
Oklahoma star, Heisman winner, and number one overall draft pick, Sam Bradford enters his first season with the St. Louis Rams with lofty expectations.
Bradford will most likely see the most playing time out of all of the rookie quarterbacks this season, as the Rams see the rookie as their future.
Veteran quarterback A.J. Feeley was brought in by the organization to serve as a mentor to the young star and give him time to develop.
However, with Feeley suffering a recent injury, Bradford may find himself with this first career start in the next preseason game. If he does start, Rams fans can catch a glimpse of the future.
When it comes down to it, Bradford has an excellent chance to live up to his expectations.
Will Albert Haynesworth and Mike Shanahan Make Up?
10 of 10
This story has carried plenty of drama all preseason.
Washington Redskins defensive end, Albert Haynesworth, and new head coach, Mike Shanahan, are butting heads.
And it's not getting any better.
Shanahan has refused to let Haynesworth take part in any team activities because he has failed to pass a conditioning test.
However, Haynesworth and his doctor have come out in the past few days and stated that he has a health condition known as rhabdomyolysis, which causes an extensive breakdown of muscle.
Shanahan isn't budging, again stating that Haynesworth will not play if he fails to practice.
The prediction? This one is only going to get uglier.
