Brett Favre: Five Goals For The Minnesota Vikings Quarterback
He's coming back, again.
Back for one last season (or so he says), Brett Favre will be looking to complete another successful season as a Minnesota Viking.
This year will be another interesting one in the NFC, as Favre and the Vikings will be seeking revenge from the New Orleans Saints.
However, there are many unanswered questions surrounding Favre and his health.
If all goes according to plan, here are five goals for the Vikings' quarterback for this coming season.
1. Stay Healthy
1 of 5
This is perhaps the most important goal for Favre this year as it is every year, because if he isn't healthy, none of the other goals can be achieved.
Many wonder how healthy Favre's ankle truly is, can it last another grueling season? With Favre's physical, relentless style of play, injuries tend to be tough to avoid.
And if Favre goes down, the Vikings go down.
2. Avoid
2 of 5
Favre holds a few great records in the NFL, but career sacks is one that he does not want.
It's also going to be very tough for Favre to avoid taking on this record, as the current all-time leader is John Elway with 516 career sacks.
Favre enters the season with 503.
So that means unless Favre can manage to stay on his feet for a majority of the season and avoid 12 sacks, he's most likely going to secure his name for yet another spot in the books.
3. Solidify His Records
3 of 5
Aside from the negative sack record, everyone knows Favre holds plenty of other NFL records, most notably the all-time touchdown passes record.
Favre currently enters the season with 497 career touchdown passes. If he has another incredible season like last year, he can make the move to solidify his record.
If he has another 30 touchdown pass season, the 41 year old quarterback can end his career at around the 530 mark.
With just three more touchdown passes, Favre will also become the first quarterback to ever throw for 500 touchdown passes in a career.
4. Win the Super Bowl
4 of 5
This one is a given as it's not just Favre and the Vikings' goal, it's every player and team's common goal.
Favre has every chance in the world to lead his second team to a Super Bowl win with this stacked Vikings lineup.
However, in order to do this, there are many things that need to happen. For one, Favre needs to stay healthy. Head Coach Brad Childress and Favre must also need to get along. Most of all, Favre and the Vikings must conquer the New Orleans Saints who played the role of last year's roadblock to the Super Bowl.
Only then can Favre and his teammates pursue the elusive Lombardi Trophy.
5. Retire On a Good Note
5 of 5
This goal is perhaps the most questionable of all.
We're dealing with Brett Favre here. Will this actually be his last season as he has stated or are we in for another drama filled summer a year from now?
Well, if he truly does decide to retire, Favre needs to attempt to end his Hall of Fame career on a good note.
There are several ways he can do this.
First, of course he can go out a Super Bowl Champion. Nothing beats that.
However, if he and the Vikings fall short, Favre can hopefully end the season on good terms with his teammates, as well as staying healthy.
Nothing would be a worse ending for Favre than having his last season cut short by injury.
