Thoughts

  • The migraine problems that sent Percy Harvin to the hospital have to be a concern, but it is not a new problem for him.  Be cautious, but, with Brett Favre back in the fold, he’s still certainly a solid low-end WR2.
  • It appears Wes Welker may be ready for Week One.  Obviously there are still injury concerns, but if he’s on the field, he opens up a whole lot of possibilities and potential.  He’s a risk, but one that’s worth taking.
  • I recently spoke about Mike Williams, who appears ready to grab a starting spot for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  There’s a chance he emerges as a great WR3 by mid-year, but draft him as a reserve with a ton of upside for now.  For more on him, click here.  With his emergence, Arrelious Benn tumbles down our rankings, as his opportunities may be limited.
  • The Bears are talking about spreading the ball around between Johnny Knox, Devin Hester and Devin Aromashodu.  In fact, WR coach Darryl Drake was quoted in the Chicago Tribune as saying, “We’ve got three starters. There ain’t no buts. You listen to what I said. We have three starters right now.”  This could turn it into a situation similar to Tennessee’s, where you never know who is going to have the biggest game from week-to-week.  All three are worth drafting as a reserve, but don’t count on them as a starter quite yet, unless one steps ahead of the rest.  For the full article, click here.
  • Randy Moss is really gaining traction in fantasy drafts this year.  I’ve actually seen him go ahead of Andre Johnson and others have grabbed him late in the first round.  I still prefer Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald (despite the questions with a new QB and the loss of Anquan Boldin), but that’s about it.  Moss has looked good and has the potential to post huge numbers this year.
  • I recently spoke about Colston, who falls a few spots here.  Make sure to check out my article for my reasoning and why I have a few concerns by clicking here.
  • Mike Sims-Walker missed time in 2009 and is hurt again this preseason.  It's reportedly a minor injury, but it’s still got to be concerning.  He’s going to hold his spot, for now, but keep a close eye on the situation.
  • Will Vincent Jackson be traded?  It looks like if he plays, it's not going to be in San Diego.  I know he’s going to miss a few games due to suspension, but you have to weigh what you get from him.  If he was playing the full season he would likely be a Top 12 WR.
  • To see why I have Chad Ochocinco ranked where I do, click here.
  • For a look at why I’m expecting big things from Dwayne Bowe this season, click here.
  • According to the Dallas Morning News (click here for the post), Dez Bryant is expected to miss the final two preseason games due to his high ankle sprain.  He’s got to be downgraded a bit, due to a lack of work with Tony Romo, but he’s still worth drafting as a low-end WR3.
