High School Hoops: Rayshard Banks Won't Back Down

It doesn't take much to install drive in a young talented player like Rayshard Banks. Give him a basketball and a hoop, he'll do the rest. Banks is only a high school student but when he steps on the court school is in session. Meet the kid from Roberto Clemente High School. (Chicago, IL)

Banks, a 5'10" 140-pound shooting guard/small forward is adjusting to how the game comes at a faster pace, a pace he's able to keep up with. Doing exactly what his position entitles, Banks is a scorer saying "When I get the ball, 85 percent of the time I'm headed to the basket cause once I get there it will be two points, easily." 

While his playing style does have him driving, Banks stays close when describing his real drive. "My family. They drive me because they're always there for me, at all my games, keeping my head on straight. I always wanted to give back to my school and community and part of the way to do that is remain focused with goals in mind. "

Goals in mind are the reason if you don't see Banks playing for his school you can find him in a gym. "When I'm not in a game I'm usually working out or hanging with my family to keep my focus."

While his game has made the crowd bring up big names like first overall pick John Wall, Banks says with confidence, "if I am compared to John Wall I would say it's because our playing styles resemble one another. Always driving to the hoop to make the play happen."

There's many things you readers may not know about Banks so he tells you what you should know. "I want everyone to know that I'm a hard worker, and with my focus I'm not afraid to learn anything new. I also wanna stay close to home when college comes around, playing for a school in Illinois so my family can stay close."
