Top Ten Fights The Fans Must Receive

Joshua BoykenAug 21, 2010

There are several fights that people really want to have the honor to view, and see how the fight would actually happen. Although, at this moment these fights just continue to play over and over in our heads.

These fights that I'll list our amazing match ups and practically dream matches that could still happen. We should all begin to hope and pray that one day these fights willl occur..... sooner then later.

10. Lyoto Machida vs. Anderson Silva

1 of 12

This fights falls to ten for the very reason that it really doesn't make for a great fight. Lyoto and Anderson are both killer counter strikers.

Lyoto has became more of a fast pace, coming forward striker. He has recently lost to Mauricio Rua by a shocking knock out. Machida is still a great fighter and if they ever decided to fight one another, it would be very interesting.

Anderson is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. He has recently pulled off a tremendous submission victory over Chael Sonnen. Anderson is a great striker with a very good ground game.

These two fighters are publicly close friends, and have stated that a fight with one another is not possible. If they do fight it would be very interesting.

9. Jake Shields vs. Georges St. Pierre

2 of 12

Jake Shields is one of the best fighters in the division. Many rank him in the top ten pound for pound in the world. He has recently pulled out a decision victory over the dangerous Dan Henderson. Jake Shields is a spectacular submission fighter, and has very impressive wrestling.

Georges St. Pierre is also one of the best fighters in the world, and is proclaimed by many as the P4P best. He has recently dominated Dan Hardy for five straight rounds.

This fight is a huge possibility if GSP can take out Koscheck, and Shields can control for Kampmann. This fight would be more a wrestling match, both fighters willl look to get the other fighter on his back. Jake Shields may be better off his back, but Georges has great control, and would probably take this one

8. BJ Penn vs. Matt Hughes III

3 of 12

The two have fought twice and both share a victory. This fight would still be very interesting. Matt Hughes has had some big wins recently, and BJ Penn is still a top fighter. This fight would sale very well and the fight has became pretty popular amongst fans.

Matt Hughes and BJ are both top fighters in their divisions. BJ is soon fighting for a title, and Matt could be a win or two away from a title shot. BJ has always had a problem of getting gassed at the welterweight division. Could be a very interesting and good fight. We'll just have to wait and see if the fight appears in the future.

7. Nick Diaz vs. Jason Miller

4 of 12

The hatred of these two fighters grows more every day. Jason Miller is a defined fighter with several big fights against big opponents. He has fought, both Jake Shields and Georges St. Pierre. However, he came up on the short end of the stick in both fights.

He asked for a rematch against Jake Shields, and a fight broke out amongst the camp of Shields and "Mayhem". The rivalry thickened, and "Mayhem" calls out Diaz on a daily basis now.

The fight very well could accumulate in the future, and would be a very entertaining fight.

6. Fedor Emielianenko vs. Alistair Overeem

5 of 12

Fedor is still a top heavyweight, but I believe the only way he can get back to the top is to beat Overeem. Fedor is a very tough fighter, with great stand up and ground game. Overeem is one of the strongest fighters on the planet. This would be a very difficult fight for Fedor, due to his size.

Overeem should by all means be ranked as one of the top heavyweight fighters in the world. He is a great stand up fighter, and also can throw people to the ground and beat a whole in their head.

If Fedor can win a fight or two, this fight should accumulate. If it does, man there will be fireworks!!

5. Dominick Cruz vs. Jose Aldo

6 of 12

Jose Aldo, is the best featherweight in the world, and is on his way to the best in the world. Aldo has best Mike Brown, Urijah Faber, and Cub Swanson. This fighter has tremendous stand up and has a great ground game that has not been shown all that much.

Dominick Cruz, like Aldo, is the best Bantamweight in the world. He has recently defeated Joseph Benavidez in a lopsided split decision (If there is a such thing). Cruz is on his way to a sucessful career, and this fight would be a huge fight for mma.

This fight could accumulate if these fighters dominate their divisions. If Jose and Dominick both win two or three more fights we might see this fight happen. If we do what a fight would be in store for us.

4. Randy Couture vs. Fedor Emilianenko

7 of 12

This fight was huge about a year ago. It has lost a lot of steem since Fedor lost and Randy Couture is fighting James Toney. Randy Couture did have his mind set on this fight, but never recieved it.

It would be a huge fight and would still sale very well. Both of these fighters are the very famous and very talented.

This fight happening, is still not a very big possibility. You probably shouldn't expect this fight in the near or any future

3. Georges St. Pierre vs. Anderson Silva

8 of 12

Obviously this is the dream fight for any mma fan. It is third on my list for the reason that this fight makes for a boring fight. Everyone wants to see this fight, but I don't believe they no of what kind of borefest they are getting ready for.

Both fighters are very dominant in their divisions, and are the two best fighters in the world. The chances of this fight happening are not very likely in my opinion. I don't believe they will put this together with Anderson having Okami, Belfort, Bisping, and Sonnen all looking for a title shot.

If both fighters stay in the game long enough and continue to control their divisions, then this fight could happen.

2. Miguel Torres vs. Urijah Faber

9 of 12

Yes, this fight is the most exciting fight on here in my opinion. Both of these fighters were dominant champions. Their was speculation of a fight when they were both champs, but now in has died down.

Urijah Faber has recently decided to move down to 135, which leads many to believe a fight between him and Torres is a possibility. If they both win their next fights, it very well could lead to a number one contender match for them.

This fight is a huge possibility if they both win their next fights, this fight will be an amazing fight.

1. Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem

10 of 12

The two strongest men in mma going at it, would be wonderful. Brock Lesnar is the best in the UFC and Overeem is the best in Strikeforce.

Two huge men going at it for five rounds would be great. Although, I don't believe this fight would go all five rounds. Stand up advntage definently goes to Alistair Overeem. Brock has great takedowns and could do very well if he could get him down, which would be a difficult task due to the strength of Overeem.

This fight will never happen, sorry, dissapointing I know. Brock is one man that seems stuck in the UFC, and I don't see Overeem going to the UFC. Alistair is a dangerous man, and could very well win this fight.

These two huge men would make for an absolutely exciting fight. Wish we could see it happen, however by all means it won't occur.
