Bird watchers are supposed to be great at spotting rare, endangered birds. It might be time for Andy Reid to bring in the best bird watchers in town to spot one of the biggest Eagles.

One more day of training camp has come and gone without a Shawn Andrews sighting.

Coach Andy Reid spoke with an annoyed tone in his voice when asked about Andrews. Reid gave the same old answers to the whereabouts, "he's working through his personal issues," and timetable for his offensive lineman's return, "I'm not exactly sure when."

The team has been very vague in the details released to the public about Andrews' situation. Eagles fans have been left out of the loop, but owner Jeffrey Lurie says they aren't alone.

"I don't have a lot to say about Shawn because I have no idea what's really going on. I'm just relying on Andy. He's in communication [with Shawn]. You don't want to prejudge anything until you really know what's going on. It's disappointing he's not here."

Lurie says he doesn't want to pass judgment until Andrews' problems come to light, which Lurie says should happen at some point.

"When something is a personal issue, we will inevitably learn what's going on, but I don't want to speak about something I don't have enough knowledge about. You just hope what's going to happen will be great for Shawn and great for the franchise."

13-year veteran Brian Dawkins says the players know how to handle the situation.

"I've seen guys hold out for different reasons. I've seen guys miss practice for different reasons. So this is nothing new. When he's handled his situation, whatever his situation is, he'll come back and we'll play ball. That's the way it is. That's the way it's always been, and I don't see that changing soon."

Coach Reid says Max-Jean Gilles will continue to take reps with the first team at guard until the Pro Bowler attends camp.

Reid says the second stringer has played well and has even hinted Andrews' job may be up for grabs if he doesn't report to camp soon.

Editor's note: Philly.com just been reported Shawn Andrews has been battling depression. He expects to return to camp relatively soon.
