Percy Harvin: Minnesota Vikings WR Could Be a Feel Good Story

Adam FromalAug 20, 2010

Percy Harvin is now doing much better, a piece of news that the Minnesota Vikings and head coach Brad Childress are very happy to hear.

On Thursday the Vikings wide receiver collapsed at practice for no apparent reason.

Harvin has had migraine troubles in the past so Childress speculated that the sun could have triggered a severe headache when Harvin looked up to field a punt.

While practice came to a screeching halt an hour before the expected conclusion, the Vikings formed a prayer circle as an ambulance came to take Harvin to the local hospital.

Now, according to Judd Zulgad of Minneapolis’ Star Tribune, Harvin has been released from the hospital and was seen on the Vikings’ sideline talking to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and athletic trainer Eric Sugarman.

Harvin has had a history of severe migraines and the condition has indeed limited him on the field in past seasons. More recently, he has been forced to sit out of training camp for the Vikings when the condition flared up following the death of his grandmother.

He won’t be making the trip to San Francisco for Minnesota’s upcoming preseason clash against the 49ers, but all indications point towards a recovery from his current state.

The second year wide receiver from Florida is well liked by his teammates, especially fellow wideout Bernard Berrian, so everyone is hoping that Harvin recovers fully and is ready to go.

In his dynamic first season in the NFL, Harvin accumulated 790 yards and six touchdowns on 60 catches. He also ran for 135 yards and returned 42 kicks for 1,156 yards and two touchdowns.

His kick returning skills were good enough to earn him a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl roster as the return man.

The reigning offensive rookie of the year in the NFL is hoping to improve upon his impressive rookie campaign, but he must first beat this problem before he can work on burning opposing cornerbacks.

NFL fans were already eagerly awaiting the upcoming season in hopes of seeing whatHarvin could do on the field. But now there is even more of a reason to root for the former Gator.

Percy Harvin, you have everyone’s best wishes for a full recovery and a great season.
