Cincinnati Masters Day 5 Tennis Betting Tips
Roger Federer v Nikolay Davydenko
Any fears of Roger Federer being jaded from his final loss to Andy Murray in Toronto on Sunday have been wiped this week. The world number 2 played just 7 games against Denis Istomin in his first match here before his opponent retired. That was 7 more games than round 3 when Philipp Kohlschreiber pulled out before the match even started. So just 7 games for Roger Federer to make it through to the quarter final. Whether the bookmakers are being generous because Federer hasn’t had match practice this week or because he lost to Andy Murray on Sunday, I don’t know. Nikolay Davydenko is far from his best and has needed three sets in both rounds to get this far. Roger Federer will have too much for the Russian who hasn’t looked good since January, before losing to Roger Federer in the quarter final of the Australian Open.
Novak Djokovic v Andy Roddick
Andy Roddick turned it up a notch when the lights came on in yesterday’s night game victory over Robin Soderling. There were signs of Roddick returning to form, with some excellent serving, big forehand winners and coming through in a third set tie break. Unfortunately for the home favourite, he comes up against an in-form Novak Djokovic who must fancy his chances both here in Cincinnati and at the US Open. This should be a very competitive match, and the odds suggest that too. But Novak is in the better form of the two to progress here.
