Meet Core 6 Sports Volleyball Chief Mentor Kelli Tennant

Paul SzczesnyAug 19, 2010

Kelli played volleyball at Chaparral High School in Temecula, California. In 2003, She was honored as CIF Co-MVP when my team and  claimed the first ever CIF Championship for our school. Kelli played club for Temecula Viper, Saddleback, and TCA. She was also a long-time member of the USA Youth and Junior National team program and  a three-time Volleyball Festival Champion and 1st Team All-American.

Her goal is to help as many young people as possible reach their goals. For the last few years, She's taken a handful of young athletes under her wing to mentor, train and develop inside and outside the athletic arena. She recently teamed up with Core 6 Sports and will serve as the Chief Volleyball Mentor, providing advice, guidance and support for my clients. Kelli understands the importance of mentoring and having solid support in your life as you go through life and sports at a young age. It can be a very difficult, stressful time, and from my experience, having someone to talk to can be incredibly beneficial and even life changing.

Kelli had a rare journey in sports and with her health, which has made her much stronger and open to change and different paths. However, it has also opened her eyes to the importance of taking care of yourself, making health and happiness top priorities in life.

Here’s a bit about her story… In 2005, she went on to play at The University of Southern California and after playing for two years, she began getting very ill and was later diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disease that causes severe pain, fatigue, and depression as well as gluten and lactose intolerances, hypoglycemia, and irritable bowel syndrome. This ended her volleyball career but has opened up many new and exciting opportunities.

Kelli had to drastically change my eating habits, physical activities and attitude toward life. These experiences and her own personalized nutrition program inspired her to become a Health and Wellness Coach and co-partner in a nutrition club to help clients reach their own personal health and fitness goals.

Kelli works with the largest weight management and sports nutrition company in the world. She has been internally trained by a group of doctors and UCLA Medical researchers with a focus on eastern meets western nutrition philosophies which incorporate herbs and antioxidants in a plant based diet with more modern philosophies focused on higher protein, good carbohydrates, lower sugar and increased fiber.

She also work with a wide range of clients outside of sports, including models, new moms, bridal parties, corporations and people with autoimmune diseases, allergies, severe obesity and diabetes.

Kelli is a freelance producer, writer, reporter and host for various sports and entertainment networks including FOX Sports West, ESPNU, CBS College Sports, the AVP, Patch.com and E! Entertainment.

She is incredibly proud to work with various organizations in Los Angeles dedicated to educating and raising awareness for specific causes. Movember is a non-profit organization that raises awareness and funds for men’s health and prostate cancer research.
