Damian Grabowski Extends His Streak at Scott Barrett's Expense

Dale De SouzaAug 19, 2010

At Bellator 25, there were quite a few decisions on the main card, although most of them were Unanimous Decisions.

The US's first look at Damian Grabowski just happened to be one of them.

Both men showed some rather exciting takedowns in their fights, with the strength of Scott Barrett especially standing out, as well as the defense thereof from Grabowski.

What did it for Grabowski were really two other things in particular.

The first thing was the striking game. Grabowski threw some heavy strikes that landed hard on Barrett whenever the two were standing.

The second thing was the way he kept Barrett from mounting any significant offense on him throughout the fight, especially on the ground.

While he was put on his back a number of times and while this first look at the Polish Pitbull wasn't the best fight in which to say for certain that Jiu-Jitsu was a strength or a weakness for Grabowski, he did show a tight guard—both full and halfas well as some activeness off his back and his ability to scramble his way out of nearly being finished.

Really, this fight, like the Blackburn-Hornbuckle fight, had two subjects of controversy—that's one more than the Welterweight fight, but that doesn't make those subjects less controversial.

What it was that caused such controversy in the decision win for Damian was a knee to the groin early in the first round, and then sometime between the first two rounds, Barrett was poked in the eye.

It's all irrelevant at the moment, though, as Damian Grabowski has a victory over Scott Barrett, and it is Damian Grabowski who will advance forward into the Bellator Heavyweight Tournament.

Look out, Bellator—the Polish Pitbull is finally on the loose
