Kampin' Out: 2012 Recruit Jordan Westerkamp Ready To Make His Mark
Jordan is a name you usually incorporate with basketball. If you don't start remembering the name Jordan Westerkamp for football, then you'll miss out on one of the top recruits in Illinois.
Westerkamp, a 6'2" 190-pound wide receiver, kick returner, punt returner, and defensive back for the Motini Catholic High School Broncos will not stop performing, for any reason or any person. Using his aggressive and physical playing style, Westerkamp has put his name out as one of the top wide receiver recruits in the nation.
Catching the ball and driving down-field is one of Westerkamp's specialties, but what drives this young man?
"I can make a small pass into a big play, I like to use my athleticism and speed along with my 40" vertical to jump and catch the ball at its highest point," he said. He won't stop until he get's to the top saying "My desire is to be the best and that's what drives me every day I step on that field."
Self success isn't important to Westerkamp who is team first and self second and to prove it he said with confidence "I want to do everything I can to help my team win a championship. I simply hate to lose."
Only in high school, Westerkamp never takes a day off.
"Off the field, I train hard and always try to work on my game," he said. Simply put, the kid is a workhorse and to prove it he received his first official offer from the University of Illinois.
They won't stop there; interested schools in Westerkamp are Illinois, Ohio State, Northwestern, Michigan, Minnesota, Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, Arizona, and Stanford to just name a few. With all those offers the kid must try to make his game like a pro.
Like a pro? More like a Hall-of-Famer: "The person I try to pattern my game after is Jerry Rice. He was always trying to make his game better." Westerkamp is trying to make his game better just like Rice and while he does that, the offers will be flooding his mailbox.
