When The One You Love Is Easy

We’re all men here. So, we know how they are. We’ve all loved them and we know they’re all the same. We love them and it seems all they can do is hurt us. They‘ll disappoint us over and over again. But it still hurts us to hear anyone disrespect them. Another man refers to them as “easy”, and we’ll defend them with every breath we take. Then they embarrass us again. Some weekends at parties they embarrass us so badly we can’t face our friends on Mondays. Time and time again we say it’s over. We won’t spend another dime to be treated this way. We won’t pay for this hurt and disappointment.  And then we turn around and go right back because they say, “things are different now.”  They say.”  “I’ve changed!” I’ve got a new place. “A new look.

“You’ll see!”  “Everything is different now.” “I don’t do those things that hurt you so badly anymore.”  And so we go by only to find them entertaining a group of guys from out of town. And we have to watch those guys take turns going up and down and up and down the field over and over everyone scores and they laugh and taunt us until we leave in disgust.  Promises, empty promises. Next week we’ll be right back to take it all over again

Why do we do it? We do it all for those few moments when they look so good we want everyone to know they belong to us. We’ll put their names on everything we own including our bodies because we want everyone to know how we feel about them. We talk about them to anyone who’ll listen and our friends ask us “is it serious? Is there a ring in the future? And we just gush “Oh God a ring!” We can only hope…..along with a ceremony…. for the trophy. A Lombardy Trophy… And this year we’ll do it all again.
