Like Adam and Eve, the Minnesota Vikings Just Gave into Temptation
According to dictionary.com, the definition of power is this: the possession of control or command over others. That definition alone explains exactly what Brett Favre has over the Minnesota Vikings, power!
Much like the devil had influence over Adam and Eve to taste the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden, the Vikings are in the same situation with Favre. He is their only hope at quarterback for this season.
The sad part is that last year Favre did the same thing to the Vikings, and it's not the first time or team he's done it too.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Favre did the same thing to the Green Bay Packers until they got sick of his wavering. Once Favre announced his retirement it was Aaron Rodgers time to shine, and he's become one of the NFL's top quarterbacks.
What the Vikings don't get is that Favre is and always will be looking for attention, even though the reality was Favre was going to play. He loved the fact that the media was swallowing up the reports that he wasn't going to comeback.
There's multiple reports of Favre even texting teammates that he wasn't coming back, but all of it was a charade! It was an example of the power that Favre has wielded over the Vikings.
If one thing has been shown it's that the word of Favre means nothing. The truth is there weren't many people gullible enough to believe that Favre wasn't returning.
Why does Favre need to play these games every offseason? Also, what is the fix then? Since the Vikings are the ones that have to plan for being without Favre even though Favre was coming back.
A way for the Vikings to fix the problem is to take back the power! If Favre wants to come back there needs to be an ultimatum in place for next offseason. Sign a contract with less money because the real reason why Favre wasn't in Minnesota for training camp is that he just doesn't want to be there for training camp. He didn't want to be at a training camp for the Packers and he lied about his daughter having a graduation.
If Favre doesn't want less money then he either has to be at training camp or he's done, it's as simple as that. The Vikings are the ones that have the power over Favre, not the other way around, like it has played out this offseason.
The other way the Vikings could have played it out is by taking a stand. Basically stating this to Favre: "while we appreciate what you did for us in the 2009 season, we are moving on because you texted your teammates that you were done. As a franchise we now have to move on. Why should we bring back a player that cannot keep his word?"
Of course that won't happen, because the Vikings do not have a quarterback ready to take them far in the playoffs or even get the team there, but it's certainly better than hearing about if Favre is going to back or not.
