Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao: Should There Be a Rematch?
If Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao win the fight aginst each other, should they call it a truce?
I don't think so.
There should be a rematch to prove that their first fight isn't the grand finale.
Movies sometimes have sequels.
Rematches benefit the losing fighter who lost to his opponent the first time.
It's about a 50 percent chance that the loser will win a second time.
Manny Pacquiao gave Juan Manuel Marquez a rematch, which technically wasn't one because their first fight ended in a draw.
So, Marquez lost to Pacquiao in their second fight.
That could be why Marquez wants a third fight with Pacquiao, to even the score.
If Mayweather loses against Pacquiao, I think he will ask for a rematch.
He can't go out like a sucker.
But Pacquiao can shy away from fighting Mayweather a second time if he wins.
It will be to Pac-Man's advantage not to give Mayweather the opportunity to fight him a second time.
Then, there might be accusations that Pacquaio is ducking Mayweather if he's challenged to a rematch.
If you look at some rematches in history, there is a revenge factor in why the losing fighter wants it.
Muhammad Ali lost to Joe Frazier in their first fight, and he beat Frazier in their second fight.
He won his rematches with Ken Norton and Leon Spinks.
Sugar Ray Leonard got revenge from Roberto Duran after his upset loss in their first fight.
Some rematches result in the same fighter winning more than once.
Shane Mosley lost twice to Vernon Forrest.
Frazier lost the second and third fights to Ali.
Mike Tyson lost twice to Evander Holyfield.
So my question is: Should either Mayweather or Pacquiao fight each other a second time, and would you watch it?
