Bash at The Beach: GSM's Predictions For The SummerSlam PPV

Graham GSM MatthewsAug 14, 2010

This Sunday, WWE presents it's 23rd annual SummreSlam Paper-view. I did do a prediction list similar to this last month and my prediction aren't half bad.

From what I hope, I am right on what the match is supposed to end like, and I only wish WWE continues to surprise us and may get these wrong (did that make sense?).

So let's get started.

With Jayson Tatum sidelined, Celtics' fourth-quarter comeback falls short in Game 7 loss to 76ers

Match 1: Alicia Fox (c) vs. Melina (Divas Championship)

Possible Prediction: I like the idea of having a worthy divas match at every paper-view instead of the random tag team matches that were confirmed at the last minute. I am glad, the Lay-cool vs. Kelly Kelly and Tiffany match was cancelled since we've seen a million times before, but that besides the point.

I don't really like how WWE is pushing Alicia to become the most dominant Divas Champion ever, even though her ring skills are improving but she is horrible on the mic.

I was thrilled to have Melina return from injury and finally get another good feud going for RAW, but they didn't let the feud build. I was hoping for this match to happen at Night of Champions, but that seems when the rematch will be.

It looks to be a good match, and hopefully longer than the one on RAW, but not great.

Final Prediction: This could really go down the middle, as either way they will have at rematch at Night of Champions. But I'm gonna go with Fox retaining by cheating, then Melina winning the belt at Night of Champions.

Match 2: Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Championship)

Possible Prediction: I was thrilled to see Ziggler finally win the Intercontinental Championship, and I have a feeling it won't last long.

As much as I hate Vickie, she really gives Dolph heat. With Kofi losing for the past month now, I find it REALLY hard to believe they would make him lose to Ziggler again. I was hoping for a No Holds Barred match, especially with what has transpired.

This feud hasn't been something the fans have looked forward to on PPV, simply because it was rushed in three weeks.

Final Prediction: It is possible Dolph could retain (which I want him to), but I think he won't. Look for Kofi to win back the title and have a rematch at Night of Champions.

Match 3: Big Show vs. Straightedge Society (3-on-1 Handicap)

Possible Prediction: I don't like this rivalry, even though both are funny and great on the mic. The only reason it's happening is because they wanted to get their names on the card.

I was hoping (I know, I'm hoping and whining a lot, don't hate me) that this would be a singles match, but it's mostly due to Punk getting surgery. So expect Punk to be limited.

Final Prediction: I was at first thinking the SES might pick up a win, but with all the fighting, I see Big Show becoming a hero and over

coming the odds. I predict for SES to argue, lose, and brake up following the match.

Match 4: Sheamus (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE Championship)

Possible Prediction: I was kind of confused when Orton said Sheamus has never beaten him, when Sheamus beat him by DQ at Royal Rumble AND RAW. Anyone else notice that besides me?

Orton is the last legitimate contender for the title with Cena feuding with Nexus, Edge and Jericho being heels, and Triple H out for the next few months. So why would he lose?

I am looking forward to this match, as they put on a great one at the Royal Rumble.

Final Prediction: Orton to win all the way. I like Sheamus as champion, but with the added stipualtion, I don't want to see Orton lose again. Miz could cash it afterSheamus might win, but I would rather have him cash it in down the road.

Match 5: Kane (c) vs. Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Championship)

Possible Prediction: This build-up has been red hot, but I was really hoping for the Undertaker to be facing Kane instead of Mysterio. We have seen this match numerous times before, so it should be nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm expecting Undertaker to be involved some way, either have it be during or after the match. Kane's reign has been short, so I really don't want to see it end now. Mysterioalways winning, so can he spare complaining and let Kane get the lime light.

Final Predictions: If this Undertaker and Kane feud is going to take place, it has to be with the belt. Even if it means dropping the belt to Taker, its better and longer than dropping to Mysterio at SummerSlam.

Match 6: The Nexus vs. Team WWE

Possible Prediction: This will probably be the main event, and with all the suspense going into it, it looks to be pretty good. I have personally enjoyed the Nexus angle, and I hope it doesn't stop here.

I am just going to assume The Miz is going to be the final man, because they IS no one else at this point. If he is chosen, he will probably play a big role in betraying the team. The ending will probably be Cena (HA!), Bret Hart, or Miz.

Final Prediction: I'm predicting Nexus, cause wouldn't they look weak if they lost and they still do have contracts and a title shot. Someone will turn on WWE, and Cena will probably start a feud with them.

Thanks for reading, Bleachers! Like or comment on what you agree or disagree on. Enjoy SummerSlam!
