NHL Buzz: Saturday, August 14th

Todd CordellCorrespondent IAugust 14, 2010

As you all know, the Tomas Kaberle deadline is Sunday at midnight. A lot people believe he will be traded (I am one of them) and based on Brian Burke's interview yesterday on the fan590, it sounds like he will be.

Yesterday in the interview Burke stated that they are looking for a scoring winger with some size. It is unknown if he will get that but one thing is for sure, several teams are offering what Burke calls a "futures package."

Burke said the "futures package" contains a solid young player/prospect and a high draft choice. Several sources sent me texts and emails yesterday saying that the Anaheim Ducks have offered a "futures package" (no, it did not contain Bobby Ryan).

It is also worth noting that Burke confirmed that over 10 teams are interested in Tomas Kaberle.

The Anaheim Ducks, Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, and the LA Kings are all among the teams interested in Willie Mitchell. It is unknown which teams are on Mitchell's "list" but I do know all teams have expressed interest.

According to multiple media outlets, Tomas Fleischmann is likely the odd man out in Washington.

The Florida Panthers announced that they have loaned goaltender Alexander Salak to Farjestad BK of the Swedish Elite League for the upcoming season. This move was made because they want Jacob Markstrom to play full time in the AHL and they don't want to have Salak playing backup minutes. This move was made for one reason alone, and that was to get Salak more playing time.

This concludes today's edition of NHL Buzz, enjoy.
