NFC East Predictions for 2010

Michael MohajeriAug 13, 2010

The NFC East is up for grabs in the 2010 NFL regular season. The Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins are ready to do battle. Are the Dallas Cowboys poised to make a run to Super Bowl? Can the New York Giants rebound from a lackluster year? Will Kevin Kolb have a breakout year, or turn out to be a big mistake? Will the marriage of Mike Shanahan and Donovan McNabb get the Redskins back to the playoffs?

There are many questions to be answered. Where will each team finish this season? How many wins and loses will they have? Which team or teams will make the NFC Playoffs?

Fourth Place: New York Giants, 6-10

1 of 4

The New York Giants finished 8-8 last season. The team didn't make any significant changes to their team in the off-season, and they face a very tough schedule this year. Their wins will come at home against Carolina, Chicago, Detroit, Jacksonville and Philadelphia, and on the road against Seattle. Eli Manning will have a tough year, and after week 17, Tom Coughlin will have coached his last game with the Giants.

Third Place: Philadelphia Eagles, 7-9

Adjustment years are never fun, and the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be adjusting to Kevin Kolb at quarterback. In his first full season as a starter, he is going to have a couple of big games, a bunch of average games, and a few duds. Overall, the Eagles will have 7 wins. They will beat Atlanta, New York, Houston, and Dallas at home. Their road victories will come at Detroit, Jacksonville, and San Francisco. Kevin Kolb may be the future of the Philadelphia Eagles, but this year won't be very convincing.

Second Place: Dallas Cowboys, 10-6

3 of 4

This is the make or break season for most of the Dallas Cowboys team and coaching staff. They have an opportunity to be the first team to ever play in the Super Bowl on their home field. Unfortunately, the Cowboys haven't been able to handle the pressure in years past, and don't expect them to do much better this year. They will finish with 10 wins, and be a wild card playoff team, but bow out in the first round of the playoffs. Their home wins will be against Chicago, Tennessee, New York, Jacksonville, Detroit, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Washington. They will go on the road and beat Houston and New York.

First Place: Washington Redskins, 12-4

Something magical is going on in the Nation's Capital. The Capitals had the best record in the NHL and the best player, Alexander Ovechkin. The Wizards drafted John Wall with the number one pick in the NBA draft. The Nationals have the hottest young pitcher, Stephen Strasburg, and this years' number one pick, Bryce Harper. In a town that bleeds Burgundy and Gold, what could the Redskins do to top all of that excitement? Daniel Snyder fired Jim Zorn and Vinny Cerrato, Hired Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen, and traded for Donovan McNabb. Much like their professional neighbors, their luck has changed, too.

They will finish 12-4 this season, with home wins against Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, and New York. Their road wins will come against St. Louis, Philadelphia, Detroit, New York, and Jacksonville. They will reach the NFC Championship game after a first round bye, and a second round win at home. They will either face the Green Bay Packers or New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game, and lose after their opponent scores a late fourth quarter touchdown.

Donovan McNabb and Mike Shanahan will lead a Redskins' resurgence in 2010.
