Tiger Woods or the PGA: Who Needs Tiger to Win More?

Currently Tiger Woods is not playing like himself and deep down, the PGA cannot be happy about it . 

Its feature attraction on the golf course is a focal point amongst the average golf fan.

If Tiger falls off the map instead of playing off into the sunset when he is in his forties or fifties, the PGA and golf in genereal will suffer.

That provokes the question of who needs this major championship more, Tiger or the PGA?

If Tiger wins, his fanbase would most likely come back in full force because he would have captured his 15th major and reestablish the possibility of surpassing Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 majors. 

He also would let everyone, fans and competitors, knowthat he indeed is back and is ready to compete at a Tiger level again.

His potential victory would also attract endorsements again. 

He may have to wait a year or two more to have as many endorsements as he once did, but if he won the PGA I think this process would be sped up a little bit.

The PGA would love for Tiger to win the PGA Championship. 

Golf would regain the popularity that it lost due to Tiger’s demise and more importantly, their revenue and TV ratings would shoot back up. 

The average golf fan watches and follows the top golfers, especially Tiger Woods. 

When Tiger is playing to the best of his ability, being a fan of his is probably one of the easiest sports decisions to make. 

When Tiger is on, each tournament is usually predicted on this basis: Will Tiger win or the field?

I think it is going to be interesting to see what happens with golf when Tiger is done because to this point he is arguably the most dominant golfer of all time, with no signs of a replacement anytime soon.

Ultimately, Tiger needs to win this PGA Championship for himself rather than the PGA needing their golden boy to get back to the top. 

He needs to restructure his image, regain the massive fan base that he once had, and show everybody that he is the same Tiger Woods that plays golf with a fierce demeanor  to beat Nicklaus’ major record.
