Lance Cade: Remembering the WWE Star

The Doctor Chris MuellerAug 13, 2010

This morning the wrestling world lost another of it's family members. Lance Cade, Real name Lance Mcnaught, passed away from heart failure. Cade was 29 at the time of his death.

Lance Cade was a superstar whose potential was limitless. He had the right look and a good sense of the sport. Cade was one of Shawn Michaels first students back when HBK opened up a wrestling academy. It was here where Lance honed his craft.

In 2003 WWE signed Lance Cade to a contract and he made his debut in June 2003 on the Raw brand with his tag team partner Mark Jindrak.

These two had a short lived alliance before Cade had to take time off due to a knee injury. Cade returned with a new partner in Trevor Murdoch. He adopted a cowboy style and the two ran roughshot over the tag team division for three years.

Together Cade and Murdoch gained multiple tag team championsips. With Cades power and Murdochs brute force the two seemed like a team that could help ressurect WWE's dying tag team division.

Their most notable win came at the expense of The Hardy Boys Matt and Jeff. Cade and Murdoch won the tag team titles from the brothers and went on to defend them against multiple tag teams.

After losing the titles the team was split up and Cade was paired with a newly turned heel, Chris Jericho. Together the two made life a living hell for Shawn Michaels.

After an incident on a plain Cade was released from his WWE contract in 2008. He was rehired in 2009 but was released again after asking WWE for help with an addiction to sleeping pills.

Cade's death came as a shock as he was a young star with a very bright future ahead of him. I personally thought Cade was never used to his full potential and I wish WWE had given his team with Murdoch more time to become great.

Lance Cade will always be remembered as a badass cowboy who was tougher than a two dollar steak.

I would like to send my condolences to the family of Lance Cade. He was a great talent who will be remembered as such.
