TNA Displays One of the Greatest Impact Episodes in History

Daniel PeragineAug 13, 2010

TNA Wrestling hit the jackpot when it displayed one of the best all-around wrestling shows on television in years.  With TNA's programming on a hot streak, this episode may be the one that brings the company to the next level.

Match One: Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles

A very good physical match that proved why Angle and Styles are two of wrestling's best athletes.  It should be noted both Angle and Styles put on excellent matches, as they work very well in the ring.

Your winner: Kurt Angle.

Rating: 4/5

Match Two: Angelina Love vs Madison Rayne for the TNA Knockouts Championship

This was a sub-par match that wasn't very long.  Viewers almost got to see the woman who has disguised herself in recent weeks.

Your winner and new champion: Angelina Love.

Rating: 2.5/5

Match Three: Mr. Anderson vs Matt Morgan vs The Pope

The three-way match up was pretty short but featured good action in the ring.

Your winner: Matt Morgan.

Rating: 3/5

Match Four: Jeff Hardy vs Shannon Moore

It was a little disappointing because many felt a former WWE star was about to debut with TNA against Jeff Hardy's open challenge.  However, Moore did well, and I was pleased with this match.  Good showing.  Your winner: Jeff Hardy.

Rating: 3.5/5

Match Five: Beer Money vs Motor City Machine Guns for the TNA Tag Team Championship

In a match lasting nearly 20 minutes, Beer Money and Motor City put on possibly one of the greatest tag team match ups in recent history.  There is no question this match could win "Best Match of the Year."

There was lots of great energy in the building, as fans were heavily behind Motor City.  TNA's tag team division is very strong right now, thanks to the great series of matches these two teams have put on.

Your winner and remaining TNA Tag Team champions: Motor City.

Rating: 10/10 (extra bonus points)

Match Six: Abyss vs Rob Van Dam for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

This was a very good main event featuring a very ECW-like hardcore match.  There was plenty of great action.  Abyss and Rob Van Dam put on a good main event for viewers.

Rating: 5/5

In the final moments of Impact! Hulk Hogan came out and heavily endorsed Rob Van Dam and the Hardcore Originals, who came out to the ring.  Tommy Dreamer put on a nice promo about TNA's Hardcore Justice PPV.  All of a sudden, the lights went out.

As the lights turned back on, Ric Flair's newly formed "Fortune" group stood behind the "EV 2.0" originals and attacked them in one of the most violent, brutal, bloody endings in recent memory.  Flair came out to celebrate "Fortune's" attack and got into a heavy confrontation with TNA President Dixie Carter.  Rob Van Dam was laid out in a pool of blood by Abyss, thanks to his "Janice" weapon, which sets up next week's major storyline.

Overall TNA Impact! Rating: 4.5/5

Peragine's View:

This edition of TNA Impact was simply one of the best, if not the best, episode ever aired by TNA.  There were plenty of standout matches and non-stop action, and the ending was the complete opposite of WWE's product, as it was extreme hardcore quality.

I am all aboard TNA's decision to become more of a hardcore product, as I think many fans have been waiting for this to be aired on TV.  If you didn't get a change to watch Impact! this week, I highly suggest you watch clips of it.  I don't like spoilers, but next week's episode looks very good, as well.  Great showing by TNA this week.
