Tiger Woods Exactly Where He Wants To Be Starting Round Two

Thomas MorelandAug 12, 2010

Round One of the PGA Championship was great to watch streaming live as I went about my work day, Thursday.

Tiger was extremely fun to watch as the first four holes, he made three birdies hitting decent long drives and making 8-10 foot putts.

He had his ups and downs through the rest of the round, but held it together, and managed a late birdie to get to minus one for the first day at the challenging Whistling Straits Course.

I expect Tiger to improve on Friday, rather than digress, and a two day total of minus three to four will have him in a good place for the weekend.

Our leaders played well on day one, with a minimum of mistakes and trouble to hinder their scoring. The leaders on Day One are Bubba Watson, Francesco Molinari, Ernie Els,Matt Kuchar, and Nick Watney all at minus four.

Also in the hunt just one shot back are Charles Howell III,Jason Day, Ryan Moore,Gonzalo Fernandez-Casta,Darren Clarke, and Simon Khan.

All these players are currently minus three.

The pack at minus two are John Merrick, Michael Sim,Jim Furyk,Kyung-Tse Kim,Martin Laird,Thongchai Jaidee,George Bourdy,Tim Thelan,Shawn Micheel,Peter Hanson, Angel Cabrera, and Shane Lowrey.

Keep in mind that many players have not finished their rounds on Thursday because of fog delays,so the leader board or order may change quickly even before Friday's round starts.

Joining Tiger Woods at minus one are Steve Elkington, Brian Davis,Steven Gallacher,Ryan Palmer,Edoardo Molinari,Marc Leishman,Rhys Davies,Camilo Villegas,Chad Campbell,Dustin Johnson, Carl Pettersson,Seung-Yul Noh,Kenny Perry, Steve Stricker,Rory McIlroy,Zach Johnson,Tim Clark, Kevin Na,Kris Blanks,Robert Karlsson, and Jimmy Walker.

As you can see the first round needs to get finished to start a bit of seperation with these big packs of players at each number.

If there is no fog, the scoring could be pretty good in the morning for the guys finishing with less wind.

The opposite could also happen, as if the fog rolls in again off the lake and delays play again, that would bring the wind factor back into the scoring.

My fantasy picks this week are Stricker,Goosen,Mahan, and Kuchar. I will bring Tiger Woods off the bench and use him rather than Stricker in round two.

Retief Goosen will also be sat down for Sean O Hair. I will stick with Hunter Mahan in Round Two, and Kuchar is tied for first place and will be used all four days it looks like.

As Round One of the PGA Championship is not in the books yet, I Will  update my Yahoo Fantasy Golf Standings after Round Two is complete. With Tiger at minus one, and Kuchar at minus four, I should have some decent points for the first round.

After watching Tiger's Round One, I noticed a bit more concentration, and less emotion hole to hole. All business it looked like as he worked his way around the course.

I am looking forward to Round Two.
