Teasing preseason games in the NFL is always a great way to get an edge on the oddsmakers if a line is tight. They don’t get any tighter than in the preseason, so we are set to take advantage. Check out our super NFL teaser of the week for the first week of the preseason.

Getting the Saints and double digits worth of points seems like a great idea in the preseason, especially against a New England team that typically doesn’t really care about exhibitions. The Pats are going to have their work cut out for them once QB Tom Brady leaves the game, as there really aren’t any proven options that can carry the offensive load. The Pats potent offense is going to get canceled by the power of the first teamers for the Saints. Beyond QB Drew Brees, New Orleans has a proven backup in Patrick Ramsey, a rookie that looked good last preseason in Chase Daniel, and rookie Sean Canfield.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Miami Dolphins
Game Date/Time: Saturday, August 14th, 7:00 ET
Game Location: Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

NFL Odds: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +3.5 vs. Miami Dolphins -3.5: Over/Under 33.5

Neither one of these teams particularly cares much about the preseason, as both teams keep it close to the vest. Even though the Fins went 4-0 last year, they aren’t going to likely be able to keep up with last year’s pace. Tampa Bay will likely use starting QB Josh Freeman and reserve Josh Johnson, a former starter, for the majority of this game. That should be enough to at least keep the Bucs within two TDs of the Dolphins even though the game is on the road.

Detroit Lions vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Game Date/Time: Saturday, August 14th, 7:30 ET
Game Location: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Radio Broadcast: Local TV, Westwood One, Sirius

Football Betting Lines: Detroit Lions +2.5 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers -2.5: Over/Under 33.5

The Steelers are going to have a heck of a time trying to replace QB Ben Roethlisberger. That means plenty of reps for backups Charlie Batch, Dennis Dixon, and Byron Leftwich, all of which have the ability of leading this team, particularly in exhibitions. Detroit is still a very marginal team at best, and though we expect big things out of the first team offense, taking on the first team Pittsburgh defense is going to be over its head this early in the year. Aside from that, calling on either Shaun Hill or Drew Stanton isn’t going to put much fear in the Pittsburgh reserves.

My NFL Preseason Week 1 Teaser Bet: 10-point super teaser: New Orleans Saints (+11.5)/Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+13.5)/ Pittsburgh Steelers (+7.5)
