UFC 118: Which BJ Penn Will Show Up?
As we all know BJ Penn has always had conditioning issues thorough his career and has relied on his pure talent to win fights.
However, ever since the second GSP fight all those issues seemed to have disappeared. He finally seemed to have taken his conditioning seriously as he looked noticeably in better shape for the Florian fight.
It all seemed to have paid off, as he convincingly beat Florian in a one sided fight and then dominated Sanchez in his next fight.
At this point, BJ looked all but invincible in the lightweight division as there seem to be no imminent challengers remaining. What was the UFC going to do? Try to bring in Shinya Aoki, the guy ranked as #2 lightweight? Move BJ back up to welterweight?
The UFC decided to give Frankie Edgar a shot.
Nobody really gave Edgar a chance at winning, however he pulled off one of the biggest but controversial upset of the year.
The real question is what to happen to BJ?
The scorecards indicated a very one sided match for Edgar, including a 50-45 score. Was BJ simply having a off night? Did Edgar have the right strategy to beat him? Are the rumors true that he was battling a infection? Or did he simply fall back into bad habits and became complacent?
Whats in store for us for UFC 118? Will BJ come back strong and convincingly beat Edgar? Or will Edgar prove he is no fluke and beat BJ again?
I believe it will be the former.
