2010 FF Impact Rookie: Mike Williams To Start for Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Arrelious Benn may have been the top receiver taken by the Buccaneers at the draft, but he may not be the best rookie at this position. Fellow draft pick Mike Williams has put together a strong off-season and now it looks like he’s won a starting job.
Williams has always had talent but due to character concerns coming out of Syracuse, he fell into the fourth round on draft weekend.

Sleeper In The Making
Tampa Bay’s offense has a serious need for pass catchers after Kellen Winslow at the tight end position. It looks like the Buccaneers will probably go with both rookies as starters this year and that is at least good for their fantasy values.
One positive for Josh Freeman and his pass catchers have going for them is the easiest schedule to pass against on paper. For a group so young, I can’t imagine they will even be a top twenty group but that doesn’t mean a receiver on this team can’t be useful in fantasy football.
With health concerns around Benn, it is Williams that I’ve recommended to be the option that could break out for fantasy owners in 2010.
2010 Fantasy Projection
If Williams can put together a healthy pre-season, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to draft him as a late round pick in deep leagues. With a high need for productivity, talent and motivation to make an impact, Williams is primed to show his skills early on.
Don’t look to Williams as a starter of any kind until he proves he can be productive in the regular season. If he should find productivity in September, I wouldn’t be surprised if he would make for at least a nice player to use during bye weeks.
