Betting Blog: Bets For The New Premier League Season
With pre season done and the beginning of a new league season. Now is the time to get those bet bargains in. With no real form and only changing of the squads personnel to make an educated guess would be quite hard. Still there is value in the market at the moment. In the following article I will break down good value bets with the emphasis on good value!
With all betting shops you have to look around for the best odds as each shop have different views on who will get relegated and the likes. Without further ado, here is some bets that may be worth a punt for the coming season!
Winner
Bookies would have you believe in is a two horse race between Manchester United and Chelsea. I believe myself that Manchester Untied can win in this season again and they seem to be the most value at odds of 12 / 5 been floating around most bookies.
If you feel wanting to get more for your money and want the riskier shot then Arsenal at 6 / 1 are a good price. They might be missing a genuine goal scorer but could still provide a stern test to both United and Chelsea.
Long shot Bet: Liverpool are as high as 16 / 1 with Betfred and at such a price, cannot be completely ignored.
Relegation
With absolutely no value on the market for newly promoted Blackpool, a lowly 1 / 4 to get relegated that means in essence, for every 4 Euro you place down you win 1 Euro.
It’s a pointless endeavour on putting your bucks on them to be relegated but there is more value for them to finish last with odds of 4/5 floating around on that particular bet. If you decide this bet, stay away form the main betting shops like Paddy Power and Ladbrokes as they have significantly shorter odds of 8/11
A more valued bet but riskier is for Wigan to be relegated at odds of 2/1 with some bookies offering 9/4. Wigan finished a low 16th last season and I believe they may be in trouble this year if they don’t sort out their defensive issues. Wigan conceded 79 goals last season, only Burnley conceded more last season in the Premier League
Long shot Bet: Stoke 11 / 2. Some bust ups last season saw a late dip in form for the Stoke team and they could be in trouble if players have lost respect for Tony Pulis.
Top Goalscorer
Now with come to the market that always provides good value for money : to finish top goals corer. The main front runners are expected: Rooney, Drogba and Torres. They simply cannot be ignored as they are highly likely to be thereabouts come the end of the season.
The main question is can Torres stay fit? If he does then I would back him at 8 / 1 with Stan James. It’s the best price on the market and I believe he can stay fit this year.
If you are looking for a more valued but evidently less safer choice then back Darren Bent at 20 / 1 with most bookie outlets. The Sunderland hitman is a regular goal scorer and is guaranteed a starting berth with Sunderland and is the main penalty taker.
Long shot Bet: Robbie Keane 100 / 1 is a truly amazing price for someone who can score goals and is possibly on his way out of Tottenham. If he transfers soon then the odds will drastically shorten.
Miscellaneous Bets
Next Manager to Leave: An interesting little side bet might be Owen Coyle at 22/1 with Paddy Power. A bad start and his vision of beautiful football may hamper results early. Remember Sammy Lee?
Without Big Four: Amazing! William Hill have replaced Liverpool with Manchester City as the new big four. At 11 / 8 Liverpool are a great price to finish ahead of Tottenham and Everton.
Next Villa Manger: Bob Bradley at 4 / 1 with Skybet might be worth a punt for the vacant Villa position. Randy Lerner may like an American manager in charge.
Top Arsenal Scorer: Robin Van Persie 13 / 8 is a good bet to finish Arsenals top goal scorer for the coming season.
