PGA Championship 2010: 10 Least Likely Players To Win The Final Major

Thomas MorelandAug 10, 2010

While there is much talk about the young guns and who might win this week, lets look at some very long shots at a win this week on the PGA Tour at their very own Championship.

Whistling Straits wll test the nerves of the very fine players on Tour.  There is no telling what scores these fella's might come up with in two days of trying to make a cut, which I'm sure will be around even par.

Our first contestant with little or no chance to win is Mike Small. Mike has been in five tournaments this season, and missed three cuts.

Mike turned pro in 1989 and has earned $377,000 dollars in 21 years. Why is he here? He was 17th at the Mayacoba Classic earlier this year.

Our number two entrant is Bill Lunde. Bill has played 20 tournaments and only made the cut nine times. Consistency is not a strong point this year for Bill. Lunde however can play well on occasion and won the Turning Stone Resort Championship?

Our number three futile entry into the PGA Championship would be Chris Wood. Chris has played in four events this year and has earned 45,000 dollars.

Chris however still has way over a million in career earnings. Where, I have no idea. He is 176th on the money list.

Our number four person with absolutely no chance in hades of winning this Sunday in Wisconsin would be Seung-yul Noh, a Korean player that has made one cut, the US Open?.... and has earned about 34,000 this year.

Number five on the hit parade would be Matt Bettencourt with 25 events under his belt and 13 missed cuts. Matt won the Reno/Tahoe Open this year. Need I say more?

This field is a bit tougher, and the course is infinitely harder. But nice win Matt.

Rhys Davies is from Bridgend?

Where in the world is that?

Rhys has played in three events and made two cuts. That's about the highlights this year. number six chance of doing nothing this week.

There sure are a lot of million dollar or more career earners I've never seen play out there.

Number seven with two kinds of luck, bad and none is Mark Brooks, who I have seen play, and I remember was relevant one year on Tour at least.

Mark has entered 10 events, making three cuts. this year's earnings a dismal $34,000 dollars.

Ross Fisher makes the list having played  nine events and missing four cut. Fisher's earning this season is at around $50,000 dollars.

Last on the no chance at all list is Oliver Wilson, playing in only eight events this year, and missing four cuts, Oliver has earned about $63,000 dollars this season with one top ten.

I do think this is the last time you will hear these names this week. Huge odds though on bets favoring these guys.

On the other end of the spectrum, i have Steve Stricker, Retief Goosen, Hunter Mahan, and Matt Kuchar as my fantasy golf starters this week.

Watch Stricker light it up in front of a home crowd, or perhaps Mahan stays hot this week as the PGA gets under way on Thursday Aug 12th in Kohler Wisconsin at the breath taking Whistling Straits Course.
