Darrelle Revis Trade? Give Up the Dream, He's Not Coming To Baltimore
The Darrelle Revis watch is on it's ninth day, and tension begins to rise in Jets training camp.
Yesterday, owner Woody Johnson said his gut feeling was that his star corner back would not play this season, bringing caution to the city of New York, and the media as well.
Most are on the side of Darrelle Revis. Yes, Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders did bring the price range out of it's zone when they gave Nnamdi Asomugha the extension.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
However, that doesn't excuse the Jets not to pay the money Revis wants, especially when they were quick to bring in guys such as Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie, and Jason Taylor.
Certainly their are teams in the league who would be willing to give Revis what he wants. And if it gets to a point in these negotiations where Darrelle demands to be traded, many will be knocking on the door of the front office.
One of those fan bases hoping a deal like this could get done is the Baltimore Ravens. They have lacked a lock down corner such as Revis for quite some time, and has been thin in the secondary due to injury.
Speculation is rising on forums, and some talk shows that the Ravens should talk to the Jets, and be the first to send an offer to the Jets if he is indeed put on the market.
However, having been covering and following the Ravens for quite some time, I will be the first to say a deal such as this is highly unlikely.
Though bringing in Revis would be huge for the Ravens, here are some reasons for why I don't see it happening.
Despite Being An Uncapped Year, The Ravens Would Be Putting Themselves In The Negative Next Year
At this point in time, the Ravens are pretty tight with the cap space. They were able to acquire Anquan Boldin, and gave him the contract extension he wanted.
They signed multiple guys, such as Leron McClain and Jared Gaither to tenders, taking up some more money.
You also have to factor in guys such as Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, who are making large chunks of money for the next few seasons.
Point blank: The Ravens wouldn't get Darrelle Revis without making him the highest paid corner in the league, and giving him this deal would put the front office in a tight position for the next few seasons.
The Ravens Will Begin To Extend Many Of Their Young Stars Contracts In The Next Year Or So
The New York Jets have faced heat for bringing in new faces to the roster, yet have ignored taking care of their own.
General manager Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens front office are going to need to lock up their young players of the future.
First order of business is giving Haloti Ngata a new contract, making him one of the highest paid lineman in the league.
Running back Ray Rice and Joe Flacco will both be in need of extensions soon. They also have to consider keeping Jared Gaither, and Leron McClain, who have contributed greatly to this team.
Point Blank: A Darrelle Revis trade would make it difficult to bring all of these stars back, making it highly unlikely they make a deal a bigger priority.
Based On Ravens History, The Front Office Is More Likely To Address The Need Through The Draft
If you have followed the Baltimore Ravens for any period of time, you know Ozzie Newsome and Eric Decosta love to build the Ravens through the draft, instead of bringing in players via trade and free agency.
Okay, so the Ravens did trade Anquan Boldin. Don't expect this to be a new trend for the Ravens. Many say the Ravens are one of the best drafting franchises in the league for a reason.
They found a gem in Lardarius Webb in the middle rounds of the draft, and are likely to draft a top corner back that way.
Point Blank: The Ravens never deal first or second round picks in deals for Pro-Bowl type players. Thinking the price for Revis would be a combination of young players and top draft picks, a Darrelle Revis deal just won't happen.
Look, you can dream all you want if you are a fan of the Ravens. As long as Darrelle Revis hasn't found a new home, every team has a shot if he is put on the market. But don't put your hopes up of seeing a deal happen anytime in the future.
