Fantasy Football: 2010 PPR Results and 12-Team August Mock Draft

Sean E. DouglasAug 10, 2010

PPR fantasy football drafts are well underway but many fantasy owners have yet to draft their squads still. In our latest 12-team PPR mock draft, I wanted to place a few notes down on some players who are worth paying some close attention to come draft day.

Hakeem Nicks

The Giants have yet to hand Hakeem Nicks a starting job, but he is the likely choice to win over Mario Manningham. With Steve Smith on the other side and already troubled by a hamstring in training camp, it could be Nicks that has a big year in 2010.

If Nicks does win the starting job he would make for a No. 2 receiver to have on your squad even if he is more of a big play man and may not rack up a bunch of receptions.

Kevin Kolb vs. Carson Palmer

Much has been made of the Eagles new starting quarterback Kevin Kolb and many wonder if he will be a successful replacement to Donovan McNabb. While I do believe Kolb will be a good player in the long run, I’m concerned about his touchdown totals reaching 25 or more this season.

I know many fantasy owners have looked the other way when it comes to Carson Palmer the past few years, but you should look to Palmer as a better fantasy option to start over Kolb. Terrell Owens may be a pain in the butt to deal with, but he does tend to have good first years (attitude wise) with a new team.

Look for the Bengals to throw the football more this season with an old but still talented core of receivers.

Jerricho Cotchery

Why Jerricho Cotchery continues to be selected onto fantasy rosters is beyond me. The Jets already have Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller, and Santonio Holmes (after the first four games) in the passing game, and it’s not like they are a pass-heavy offense. Cotchery had his chance to be a fantasy-relevant player, but if he’s been unable to be a solid producer this far in his career, I can’t see him doing it in the future. Stay away from Cotchery.
