Chip DouglasAug 10, 2010

Everton's Digital Media Manager Scott McLeod recently hinted to fans that the club's EvertonTV subscription service could be launched on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in the future.

EvertonTV is a popular video subscription service provided by the club that allows fans from all over the world to watch live streams of pre-season friendly games and 15 minute highlights of cup and league games. It also has frequent interviews with football personalities.

The service is currently available to PC and Mac users but it is thought that by opening the service up to gaming platforms, end-users will have a more enjoyable and convenient service as they could watch content on their television and not the confines of their monitor's display area.

He also revealed that Everton are looking into creating a portal using Microsoft's Silverlight framework but warned that it may not be possible. He wrote "Silverlight's an option for a new portal - but we'll be in the hands of Microsoft in terms of whats possible."

Digital entertainment rental company Netflix is able to offer high-quality streaming content on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 which gives hope to a positive outcome.

The club are embracing Digital media and have already unveiled an application compatible with Apple products informing users of fixture changes, latest news from the official website and player profiles.

Recently EvertonTV streamed a match between Everton and their Chilean counterparts C.D. Everton which saw the English club win 2-0.
