Tennessee Titans 2010 NFL Predictions: Game-by-Game Breakdown, Analysis
The Tennessee Titans enter the season with plenty of unanswered questions and subplots. The way those situations turn out could be the difference in a make or break season for the titans.
Top Ten Sportsbooks like Bet Mania, released the win/loss forecast for the Titans and the over/under is set at 8. The Titans odds to win the AFC South are 1.25 to 1, and the odds to win the AFC are 4.5 to 1. The Titans are long shots to win it all, listed as 40 to 1 odds to win the Super bowl.
Chris Johnson was mired in a public contract battle during the off season that still has lingering effects.
Vince Young barely escaped punishment from the commissioner, after an incident in a strip club.
The Titans defense is off a year when they gave up 258.7 yards per game through the air, worst in the AFC.
Head coach Jeff Fisher certainly has his work cut out for him.
Here is a breakdown of the schedule with predicted outcomes for the Tennessee Titans in 2010.
9/12, Oakland 1 p.m.
This game is going to be close. Oakland is improved, but Chris Johnson wills his team to victory in week one. Home teams have the edge in week one and that may be the only reason the Titans beat the Raiders. Titans: 1-0
Pittsburgh is a different story. Even without the services of Ben Roethlisberger they will be able to take advantage of a weak secondary. The Pittsburgh defense is tough up front and that will keep Johnson in check. Titans lose in week two to the Steelers. Titans: 1-1
9/26, @N. Y. Giants 1 pm
The Titans hit the road in game three and that is bad news for the Titans. The Giants are geared up for the season and Eli Manning will torch the secondary, opening holes for the running game to be successful. This game gets ugly quick. Titans: 1-2
10/3 Denver 1 p.m.
The Titans come back home to face Denver. Denver at this point will not have fully recovered from injuries and the Titans will be able to take advantage. Denver looks as though they could be one of the worst teams in the AFC. Titans: 2-2
10/10, @Dallas 4:15 p.m.
This game won’t be close. Dallas will dominate on defense and pressure Young all day long. On offense, the Cowboys will be able to move the ball on the ground and in the air. The Titans are just over matched in this contest. Titans: 2-3
10/18,@ Jacksonville (Monday Night) 8:20 p.m.
The Titans get more than they bargained for when they run into the Jaguars on Monday Night. A divisional dog at home under the prime time lights is one of the most dangerous things that a team can face. This game is close but in the end Jacksonville gets the win. Titans: 2-4
10/24, Philadelphia 1 p.m.
The Titans return home to try and put an end to this losing streak. They are in need of a win and they get the right opponent at the right time. Philadelphia is a quality opponent but the Titans behind great running by Chris Johnson, get the victory. Titans: 3-4
10/31, @San Diego 1 p.m.
The Titans hop a plane to the west coast to take on the Bolts. The Chargers are not the team that you want to face when you have problems stopping the pass. Phillip Rivers and Co. put a beating on the Titans. Titans: 3-5
11/14 @ Miami, 1 p.m.
The Titans had a bye week to lick their wounds and try to figure out what is wrong with this team. They don’t find the answer in Miami. Miami controls the ball on offense and dominates time of possession. Titans: 3-6
11/21, Washington 1 p.m.
This is a must win game for the Titans as they are about to face a string of divisional games. The Redskins should be on a roll and starting to gel as a team. In a game that is a toss-up I will give the edge (barley) to the home team. Titans: 4-6
11/28, @ Houston 1 p.m
The trip to Houston proves one thing to the Titans. They are not ready to compete for the title in the South. Houston is better on both sides of the ball and the Texans offense is capable of putting up big numbers in this game. Texans win this game in a rout. Titans: 4-7
12/05, Jacksonville 1 p.m.
This game is about what club wants to stay out of the basement in the South. The Titans are at home and get revenge for a loss earlier in the year. Titans get the “W” but soon realize it is the last one of the season. Titans: 5-7
12/09, Indianapolis 8:20 p.m.
The Colts are a professional franchise and Peyton Manning will make sure that his team is prepared to play the Titans. In a prime time game, the Titans keep it close but in the end, its Peyton Manning to the rescue leading his team to the game winning drive in the fourth quarter. Titans: 5-8
12/19, Houston 1 p.m.
The devastating loss to the Colts late in the previous game seals the season for the Titans. They can’t contain Andre Johnson and get torched through the air. They get down quick and Vince Young does not have what it takes to make it a game. Titans: 5-9
12/26, @Kansas City 1 p.m.
All of the talk in Tennessee right now is change. For the first time in a long time Jeff Fisher is on the hot seat and right about now Vince Young throws his team under the bus. Johnson is glad he did not sign a long term deal and is looking for a quick way out of town. Kansas City wins at home. Titans: 5-10
1/02 @ Indianapolis 1 p.m.
The Titans actually have a chance in this game if the Colts have clinched the South. They may rest all of their players and allow the Titans a shot at revenge. Even with back up players the Colts still win. Titans: 5-11
Tennessee Titans 2010 final record: 5-11
