Dallas Cowboys Tight End John Phillips Will Miss 2010 Season
Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News is reporting that Dallas Cowboys tight end John Phillips might have torn his right ACL in last night's Hall of Fame Game victory. According to Archer, Phillips will get an MRI today.
ESPNDallas is now reporting that the MRI confirmed the bad news. ESPNDallas also confirms that Phillips will be out for the season.
"It's disappointing because he was having such a great camp and such a great game," tight ends coach John Garrett said after Sunday night's preseason win. "But I know one thing: He's got great resolve. He's got great perseverance. If there's anybody going to come back even stronger than he was before, it'll be John Phillips."
With Phillips, Martellus Bennett, and Kevin Brock out, Jason Witten and Scott Sicko are the Cowboys' only tight ends. Bennett and Brock could come back soon, but I expect the Cowboys will bring in veteran help.
