2010 PGA Championship: 10 Players With the Best Chance of Winning the Title
There are ten players that have the edge in playing PGA Tour events this season.
These ten players are always near the leader board, and all but one has won on the PGA Tour.
The one guy with no wins, has more top ten finishes than anyone else swinging a hybrid club this season.
Ernie Els is the type of player to heat up in Majors, and is one of the best golfers in the world. An international star, with many wins and used to the big stage, currently number one in the Fed Ex Cup Standings and a favorite to win the PGA Championship this week.
Steve Stricker is number two on the Fed Ex Cup points list and hails from Wisconsin. This is a home game for Steve with plenty of fans to walk along and cheer him on. Not that he needs any help with two wins this season.
Steve is also favored this week, because of his game, close proximity to home, and his skill level on this type of course.
Mentioning a favorite to win this season without Jim Furyk's name is pointless, as he has two wins this season, and is a great player, who putts extremely well. If he is on his game this week in Wisconsin, he will be right there on Sunday.
Justin Rose is a threat as well, with two wins, and almost a third this seaon already. Plenty of game from this Englishman who seems to get better as he gets older. Justin Rose will be a top ten finisher this week in Wisconsin.
Phil Mickelson is always a favorite in events he enters, but after watching the last round of Firestone last week, it leaves you scratching your head in wonder.
Still Phil has won twice and is ranked #2 in the world with a chance to pass Tiger this week and claim the number one golfer in the world rankling.
Here's the one guy with no wins but sixth on the Fed Ex Cup points list, and picked to do well this week by myself, added to my fantasy golf line up this week.
Jeff Oveton is making a ton of money and must be awfully happy. Good moods translate to good scores.
Tim Clarke is also a big time player in Majors and cracked the win barrier in the USA this season, as well as a steady Ryder Cup player.
Tim Clarke might not have all the power of some, but his game is gritty and he will be a factor this week.
Matt Kuchar is the statistical leader on Tour this season, with the accumulative highest score ranking putts, sand saves, green in regulation, fairways, sand saves and all that.
Kuchar is one of my fantasy players this week and will be near the leader board on Sunday.
Ben Crane has the game for this course and may be a sleeper pick with huge odds to win this week. Check out a small bet on Crane and maybe you'll get lucky.
Last, but not least of all to grab a win this week, would be Anthony Kim, recovering from thumb surgery, but ever dangerous when all is right with his swing.
Deemed the next Tiger Woods a couple seasons ago, but now just trying to step up to the challenge of a major title with Tiger Woods lurking. Kim is very dangerous when playing as he is able, very well.
All these players will be at it on Thursday, so I'll check in then with an update on all the action as it happens.
Enjoy the majesty of Whistling Straits and all the difficulty of the large greens, rolling hills, and sand traps that can levy upon these good players.
