Tiger Woods Tumbles, Bubba Watson Heats Up Again at PGA's Firestone
Bubba Watson is taking dead aim at the WGC Championship at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, this weekend, heating up on Saturday to regain the lead at minus-seven through just two holes.
Phil Mickelson is headed the other way fast, starting off with a bogey to drop to just minus-five for the tournament.
Ernie Els has played his way back into contention and stands at minus-five with three holes left on Saturday.
Justin Leonard is in second place at minus-six, at even par for his round so far on Saturday as well.
The low men on the totem pole bear mentioning, as Tiger Woods is among them.
Michael Jonzon is at plus-16, Henrik Stenson at plus-15, and Tiger Woods is at plus-11.
Matchbooks used to be a good place for phone numbers; that was before the days of Bic lighters and cell phones. Ah, for the good old days, huh, Tiger?
Yesterday's leader, Retief Goosen is plus two early, and has fallen to minus four in the early Saturday going.
Oliver Wilson, Sean O'Haire, and Matt Kuchar have all reached minus-six now, as well as Phil Mickelson.
It looks like plenty of good players will all be bunched up between 7- and 9-under-par with a big birdie hunt on Sunday to dethrone Tiger Woods in yet another event he used to dominate.
My picks this week were Stricker, Goosen, Watney, and Kuchar, with all four guys in the hunt, tomorrow should be fun to watch.
