Fity Cent Pick 4 at Del Mar with Marc Doche: A Perfect Day for Zenyatta?

Will she or won’t she?

 

Unfortunately, the priceless question of the day refers less to whether or not Zenyatta will run her career record to a perfect 18-for-18, but more so whether or not she will even run.

 

The drama that has consumed the morning at Del Mar will surely roll over into the afternoon as a massive crowd is expected to watch history in the making … hopefully.

 

With track conditions deteriorating and horsemen saying the track may be in the worst shape it’s ever been, there is speculation that trainer John Shirreffs may not run the super mare that has transcended the sport over the past three years.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed that she runs, and wins, and those in attendance can experience the memorable day they are all anticipating.

We’re off to the races!

 

Leg 1 – Race 7 (ALL) – Another one of our favorite five furlong sprints for two-year-old maiden colts. We’ll use all with the Zenyatta single in our pocket and hope for a big price.

 

Leg 2 – Race 8 (1,3,5,6,7,8,10,11) – A wide-open optional claimer on the main track with horses shipping in from all over the country. We’ll go deep again and hope for a price. Oh yeah, and also hope one of the ones we left off doesn’t beat us.

 

Leg 3 - Race 9 (5) – Zenyatta. If she runs, she wins. Unless a tidal wave hits the seaside track.

 

Leg 4 – Race 10 (9) – Hopefully, we can get to this one mile maiden special weight event on the turf with a pair of nice prices and a Zenyatta victory at 1-to-9.

 

We’ll single another likely post-time favorite here with No. 9 Not Here. She’s run second in both career starts to a pair of nice horses who were runaway wire-to-wire winners.

 

She’s trained beautifully since her last and trainer Gary Mandella excels with horses with this amount of time off.
