NFL Two-A-Days: Philadelphia Eagles Season Preview

Ryan FryeAug 6, 2010

1. Is Kevin Kolb ready to be the man in the Eagles offense?

I was against the Donavan McNabb trade, but it's not because I dislike Kevin Kolb. Kolb has looked great when he has played, but has yet to face an upper tier defense. Is he capable of being a leader? Nobody knows the answer to that. From what I've seen, he's a good player, but Eagles fans should expect growing pains in 2010.

2. Can LeSean McCoy really replace Brian Westbrook?

With the Eagles he needs to be able to catch passes out of the backfield, and last year he caught 40 passes. He also showed the ability to be a starter and replace Brian Westbrook. I'd say he can take over the starting spot.

3. Is DeSean Jackson the most versatile player in the NFL?

He is amazing: kick returning, punt returning, and a Pro Bowl wide out. He has to be at the top of the list, or at least near it. He is the No. 1 target Kevin Kolb will rely on.

4. Can the new look Eagles defense recover from an erratic showing in '09?

Stewart Bradley was out all of last season, and he is the key to the defense. Bradley is a tackling machine, he finished with 151 in 2008. The rest of the linebacking core is the weakest unit on the team. Brandon Graham should help with his pass rushing skills. Asaunte Samuel is still a lockdown cornerback. Ellis Hobbs is coming off a serious neck injury, can he recover from that? Quinton Mikell has proved to be a sound tackler, the better of the two safties and great at the Eagles trademark blitzing. Marlin Jackson and Nate Allen will compete for the free saftey spot, which has been a revolving door since Brian Dawkins' departure. As you can tell, I have mixed reviews for this defense.

5. Record?

Once again, I'm stuck agreeing with Mike & Mike. 8-8, second in the NFC East.

This idea originated from ESPN's Mike & Mike. Here is a link to Mike & Mike's page on ESPN.com, you can check out their opinion on the Eagles. I'll be back on Monday, with more NFL previews!
