Favre Has Text Remorse
On Tuesday, reports came out saying Brett Favre had told his teammates and some front off people in Minnesota that he was finished with football.
Wednesday, after every media outlet got their hand on it, he says he didn't say that.
And through his agent, Bus Cook, and long-time friend Steve Mariucci, he says he doesn't like the drama that surrounds him, and his decision whether to play, or not.

I don't think he likes the drama, but he does enjoy everyone talking about him. You do have to give him credit, he has yet to contact any network about airing an hour long special regarding his intentions to play football.
But what he is doing is sending out mixed signals, when all he has to do is keep his mouth shut, and show up, or don't show up.
I do love the guy, he's been great for the sport. What I don't love is the way all this makes Tavaris Jackson, and any other quarterback on the team feel.
Last year around this time I wrote for another site, and filmed one of my shows about what this would do for the Vikings. In that I stated while this was good for Brad Childress, it was not good for the Vikings in general.
Favre is not going to be there another 2 years, and when they get to that point, be it this, or next year, they are going to have to address the needs at that position.
Maybe Tavaris can be the next Aaron Rodgers. Learn under Brett, and get a better handle on his game, but if he doesn't, then they are right back in the spot they were in during last years off-season.
In need for a quarterback.
I like Tavaris. He took them to the playoffs, and can be productive. Good arm, needs work on his accuracy.
But Minnesota is not doing anything in scouting, or developing anyone at this point should Favre decide for real that he is not coming back.
Tavaris can only learn so much from the guy during the season. The best time to actually pick things up, is during training camp, when Brett would have time to show him some of the things he has learned over time.
There has already been talks of trade involving Sage Rosenfels. Jackson has been saying all the right things, and he is getting the reps with the one's, so we'll see where all this goes, if in fact Favre's ankle isn't up to snuff.
But the fact remains that someone got a text message, and that message was presumably from Brett Favre.
And at best it was supposed to stay within the confines of the Mankato training facility, or at worst not supposed to be told to every member of the media.
Then Favre denied the whole thing ever happened.
Did he wish he had not sent the text? Or was this a ploy to get us all thinking, writing, talking about Favre again?
I don't know. And the longer this gets drawn out, the less I care, and the more I do wish my Vikings number 7 jersey was in fact a Tavaris Jackson jersey (if you do not know who I am referring to, please refer to my list of favorite players, and check which one played for the Minnesota Vikings).
Because I for one, have his back in all of this.
