Arsenal Ready To Mount Title Push
With the Premier League season starting in a couple of weeks, pundits have been predicting the title race, and as usual their favorites for the title are Chelsea and Manchester United.
Well, I beg to differ, as Arsene Wenger's team is finally ready to win the Premier League title. What makes me say this? Firstly, it could be captain Cesc Fabregas' last season as a Gunner and he will do anything to make sure it is a memorable one. Alsom, the team is hungry for success.
In previous seasons, we all questioned Arsenal's hunger and winning mentality. We also doubted whether the young players were happy to simply finish fourth or third. Well, this year is different. These youngsters are no longer inexperienced, they are no longer happy to play second fiddle to Chelsea and Manchester United. This year Arsenal is ready to mount a title push, and a serious one too.
Players have recognised their responsibility and want nothing but the league title. Early interviews with Sagna, Nasri, Vermaelen, and new boy Chamakh indicate that the Gunners will go all out for it.
Last season Arsenal was superior in matches against Chelsea and Manchester United but results did not go their way, either because of the lack of lady luck or because of Didier Drogba.
This season Arsenal are better and have been very impressive in preseason. Even though Wenger's men drew 1-1 against AC Milan, they were solid throughout the match. The last 20 minutes can be put down to match fitness and therefore loss of focus according to the gaffer. This can only improve for Arsenal when the season starts.
Everyone expected Man City to mount a title challenge but they have lost most of their preseason games. And Chelsea is not having the best start to the season either.
Arsenal must take advantage of this and set the tempo for the rest of the teams; to do this they must win their first six games. I know we rave every year about Arsenal being ready for the title, but this season the ingredients are right in the team. One more defender in for cover and Arsenal will be stronger than ever with Cesc leading the team to the most exciting Premier League season yet.
